The pitch on this item is wrong at the higher notes. This item caused a childs toy to become the thing of a horror movie soundtrack.

So, the old one of these that we had was from a very long time ago. The pins were broken, and needed replacement. So, I bought this. And so far, it’s been great! It has the same sound as the old one, and was easy to install. It came with screws, which is nice!

Didn't fit. But I'll keep it in case I need it for another box.

This replacement comb is totally off pitch. It sounds worse than the broken one I have. Will not be using this.

the comb gives an aweful, tinny sound. Definitely off key.

Must of been the wrong key but works ok

Musician here with a warning: If you look at the second illustration in this listing it clearly states it does not work with “old” Yunsheng movements with a notched corner on the comb. This is MOST of them. And they are still being manufactured and sold this way. Most Yunsheng movements use a custom tuned comb for each tune, with different sets of repeated notes, depending on the tune (the repeated notes help to reduce wear, and allow notes to be played in quick succession). For example, my Edelweiss box has 3 identical F#s in a row, and two identical Gs, which works for that particular melody, when played in the key of D. My Brahm’s Lullaby movement is in a completely different key (Eb) with different repeating notes. The notes on most of these 18-note movements are NOT simply tuned to a uniform diatonic or chromatic scale. Those are used principally for the DIY music boxes that have paper strips. Hence if you use this comb on most of these 18-note movements, it will sound like nightmare fuel. The pitches will be all wrong, and you will read of this in the other reviews.
