My daughter's hamster began chewing on the original "look-out"( which our hamster used as a bed.) that came with the hamster cage and figured out how to release the hatch and climb out.This has been a sure fix. There is more room for him and his bedding and the screw top design has stopped any more escape attempts. It's dirt cheap and attaches easily to Habitrail cages. Since we already had the tubes with our cage, we've just used the ones that came with this kit to attach the outhouse we purchased. I should mention that we have one of the Habitrail Z cages. It is designed for holding up the " look-out" . This may explain why the previous reviewer had problems with theirs not standing by itself. Though, I could imaging that attaching a small bungee from it to the cage may solve this problem. Or, you don't have to stand it upright. Put a T-tube at the end and put it on the top of the T-tube. Then add a small bubble at the tip to prevent the hamster from escaping. Also, If you don't make sure the top is securely on, the hamster could pop the top off.

I bought this lookout, the Activity kit and 7 packages of assorted tubes to build a fun maze in my 55 gallon aquarium for my hamster. I built the tunnel free standing, relying on the aquarium glass to provide support and stability.When I took this lookout out of the box, i was surprised by how HUGE it is. Although I didn't measure it, it is estimated to be about 5" or 6" in diameter. HUGE. It's great because I can put treats in it for my hamster and she still has room to hang out in.The parts are made with thick plastics and the connector rings are pretty easy to work with. One thing that I don't like is that the parts are somewhat lose when connected together. I did NOT connect the lookout as pictured, and the tunnel started turning and sliding downward. Keep in mind that working with gravity can be challenging. As long as you are building the tunnel with gravity in mind, it should be fine. I rely on other parts of the tunnel to provide support to the lookout.I highly recommend this product. It is very high quality. With multiple packages of these assorted tubes and the space you are working with, it allows you to be creative.

This is the second tower I've owned. I've found a **serious problem** with both of them. The bottom tube slips into the cage opening but it doesn't hold firmly. The tower can flop over sideways. I solved this with a strong rubber band clipped to the cage on either side of the tower.Because of this danger, I want to give it 1 star. However, it's so well made and -- in my experience -- a must-have so that I want to give it 5 stars.That said, my 2 teddies cuddle up in it very comfortably, along with seeds and fluff. It's solidly made. The lookout piece snaps firmly to the tube. The yellow lid has air holes and fits tight, locks with a right turn. However, it's not for little hands. You have to hold the blue piece firmly while turning the lid. Whew, it does get stinky in there so I clean it out every day.I own two cages, one is the Mini Two cage. It has a hole on top for a water bottle that doesn't work for my teddies. I found that if I snap the bottom curved tube directly onto the tower, then the tube will slip in through the top hole, and the tower piece fits snug into the hole. Nice change up for them now and then.If you have your hamsters in a cage this is a must-have in my opinion. I wish Kaytee would provide a strap and clips with it to hold it upright though.

This is a great expansion for any cage! It does not come with instructions but if you look at one of the pieces it has extra plastic rings in the middle of it, put this in the hole you are adding the expansion on too, take the J shaped piece and from inside the cage with a O ring on it, snap them together (WARNING) it will be hard to get them back apart without taking the top of the cage off and alittle work. But the top of the lookout comes off and allows you to have even easier access to play with your pet. As bad as a pun as it is, I really wanted to say play with your little critters, LOL. Oh and if you try to put it on the side of the cage, OFCOURSE you are going to have issues with keeping it upright. it does not really attach that way, it is mean to the top, or for adding into a more stable section of a expansion.

My hamster loves that dome. Is not to much to say other than is easy to assemble and he loves it. I recommend this product.

Interesting reviews, the overall idea is great the execution not so much. The Tower lid, top, does not twist lock properly. It has to be wrenched to get it to snap into place which means it is hard to unlock the top especially with the J-Tube Design allowing the tower to fall if installed externally. The kids got pretty stressed that the Hamster was going to fall over and get hurt. Especially when trying to open the lid to add bedding, snacks or clean it. We will trim the lid lock edges as needed to make opening and closing a little easier.No matter how this gets installed on the exterior it falls over, for those claiming inside installation only, please read the directions which indicate inside and outside installation options.My daughter suggested we design and 3D print a better attachment assembly so that will be our next project.In the mean time with our enclosure design we used some strong tape to secure the "Fun-nel" J-Tub into proper position.We will add a rubber band as suggested by another owner and hope for the best until we have our new part printed.

Should never be used for Guinea pigs or rabbits, great for mice, hamsters and gerbils.

I like this product and the idea of it but it’s very top heavy and would lean. The top doesn’t lock on. Kinda just pops right off so if my hamster were to climb up and it tilted she’s gonna go flying out

Santo remedio, a la mañana siguiente la criatura estaba dormida en su casa.Ahora, si sus hijos les pidieron un hamster y están viendo productos en amazon para convencerse y se topan con esta reseña, aquí les va el mensaje más sensato que leerán sobre el tema: no compren hamsters!-Son animales nocturnos, están dormidos todo el día y traen toda la fiesta cuando uno quiere dormir.-Hay que limpiar su casa cada semana o cada 15 días porque si no APESTAN!- El hamster costó 50 pesos, un día hizo pipí fea (o popó, la verdad no sé) y claro que mi hija quiso llevarlo al veterinario. Consulta de 600 pesos.-Viven aproximadamente 2 años, el nuestro cumple un año en dos meses y la verdad ya estoy fastidiado.Si de todas formas quieren vivir la experiencia, les deseo mucha suerte y paciencia, yo no lo vuelvo a hacer. Y si compran estos tubos, asegúrenlos muy bien para que no les pase lo mismo que a nosotros.

We attached this to the cage, it was a bit high so took one of the joining tubes out.

Live in small town that doesn't really sell much for hamsters beyond some food and wood shavings. So I was really excited to find this online at a great price. Just in time for my 1 year anniversary with my hamster. Now he can have extra space to run and hang out
