This book describes the man I want to be when I grow up.Merritt takes the reader through twelve traits that all people of “character” should have. Drawing from historical context, and witty quips, he lays on what each trait means and how to develop it. Each trait also has a biblical study of a character utilizing it.Both convicting and inspiring, “Character Counts” is a must read for any leader. I used almost an entire highlighter marking passages to reference later. I’ll definitely be reading this book again!

In his conclusion, Dr. Merrit admits to feeling conviction while writing this book, and I appreciate the fact he does. His admission reveals his character and helps me to swallow the conviction I felt while reading this book. I am guilty as charged. This book is an open and honest assessment of the true nature of character in its totality, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who takes their relationship with Christ and the world around them seriously.

The publishing of this book, Character Still Counts, is timely. It is a reminder of of what really counts - character. Each chapter identified a character trait. Dr. Merritt uses examples and bible verses to support his points. This book has caused me to self-reflect. I was afforded the opportunity to review an advance copy from the publisher. This book is a MUST read!

This was an excellent read. Dr. Merritt ties in historical, biblical, and personal stories to explore each character trait with the book pointing to a loving God throughout. It will help me in my quest to continue to grow and build my own character and challenge my children to do the same. I highly recommend this to everyone.
