I have around two dozen of these amazing scale models. They are designed for a board game but I love military scale models and have too many of them. This one is unusual because it is a captured British aircraft flown by a German aviator. That inspires me to read about history and become informed. I'm 73 but love to learn new things. I try very hard to find the same scale for my aircraft, tanks, ships, etc. This allows me to see the relative sizes. When I was growing up I used to assemble plastic models but they were in a wild variety of scales, so it was impossible to see which ones were actually bigger and how they compared in many ways. I have no interest in playing this game but I LOVE these 1/144 scale models. I immediately noticed that the WWI Zeppelin-Staaken R.VI (in this series, Wings of Glory) had 4 engines and had a wingspan almost equal to my 1/144 B-29 Superfortress bomber of WWII. I looked it up and, sure enough, the B-29 wingspan was 19 feet longer. That was an amazing achievement for the early days of military aircraft. Another one in this series is a Nieuport 11 French aircraft with rockets. When I looked that one up I learned that the rockets were accurate enough to shoot down the huge Zeppelin rigid airships (filled with bags of hydrogen gas). I wonder how many Nieuport 11 aircraft burned up while shooting rockets (since their wings were usually canvas coated with lacquer, covering wooden wing spars) Whether you actually play the board game or just want detailed scale models of military aircraft, you will enjoy this entire series.
