Perfect for fiberglass insulation!
I purchased this knife in the hopes that it would make cutting paper-faced fiberglass insulation less frustrating. By compressing the fiberglass with a straightedge with the paper face down and extending the blade out most of the way, I was able to easily slice through R21 insulation in one or two passes. The blade is thick enough that I never had a segment snap off unexpectedly, and when the tip got too dull to easily cut the paper, snapping off a segment solved the problem. I was able to easily cut the insulation, even after shortening the blade by three or four segments. I will never go back to using a regular utility knife for this job again. My only complaint is that the end cap, which retains the slide mechanism and spare blades and acts a the holder to snap off the blade segments, broke into three pieces the first time I dropped it from three feet onto concrete. Not surprising for a plastic cap, but I have never had any other utility knife break from dropping it. Hopefully, I can get a replacement cap from the manufacturer.

Much better than off the shelf options
This is a strong, very sharp compact knife and itโs easy to snap off a dull edge and create a new sharp one.

the best, hands down
The best extendable knife there is!Extends and retracts quickly and effortlessly yet won't collapse when pushed hard( unlike the new Stanley extendo-knife). I mainly use it to through-cut (installed) drywall where i can't raise any dust. The lock on my old one failed after a few years of this kind of abuse and the tool now hangs in my personal Hall of Fame.Ichiban!, Tajima
