Used to replace the battery pack on a TRS-80 Pocket Computer Printer
Yup, it's a 40 yr old "Pocket Computer" printer... that I decided to give it life. These batteries were the "defibrillator" so to speak. The TRS-80 pocket printer uses 5 x NiCad batteries in a 3 long + 2 long configuration. By carefully removing the shrink wrap on this pack I then use a tiny bladed hobby knife to separate the batteries length wise. I did NOT have to break or undo any of the tabs on the batteries. So I ended up with a 5 long set of batteries. Folded it 3x2 like the original, then used shrink wrap to hold them all in place. I was very careful with the heat on this so as to not get the batteries hot!!!. I then cut off the connector and soldered the wires to the original wires, again using shrink wrap to isolate and insulate. The rebuilt pack fitted exactly in the case, just like the original pack Now I purchased this 5 x 1.2v NiMh as they have a much higher capacity and they were replacing a 5 x 1.2v NiCad battery pack. That means the charger is a not as smart as modern chargers that limit current when charger NiMh. However, as long as you do NOT leave on charge forever, and remove from charging if it feels unduly warm when charging, you should be just fine. Radio Shack manual says that the NiCads should be charged for 15 hours!!!... that's a slow trickle charge. So I charged the NiMh for about 12 hours and it worked a charm. Just never leave NiMh batteries permanently connected to a powered NiCad trickle charger as that will ultimately damage them. NiCad's were designed to handle that. NiMh are much higher current capacity and will power your device much longer than NiCad, they also don't suffer from battery memory as much as NiCad do. So overall, you can actually replace any NiCad with a NiMh (as long as you are careful about what charger you use as noted previously). While everything today is Lithium, be aware you cannot normally replace NiCad nor NiMh with Lithium for various reasons. The voltages are one thing, plus the charging is completely different. An experienced engineer could do it but it is more than just switching battery packs so don't try it unless you know what you're doing. Incorrectly charging Lithium can cause them to melt and eventually explode!!! While my usage of this battery pack is for an archaic device to give it new life, I will say that the pack was excellent value for money. Just took some careful cutting, re-shrink wrapping and soldering to inject new life into an old device. Very happy with my purchase.

Seems like very good quality 3x3 NIMH 7.2V pack.
I have a couple of high-end marine VHF radios (made in Japan) that are hard to replace as far as quality is concerned. The original NiCad packs were completely dead and finding new encased battery packs from the factory is nearly impossible. The only choice was to rebuild the original packs. I tried my hand at building a pack...but that was a fail. Anyway, I found these and it worked perfectly with a little bit of modification. These are very well built and seem to hold a charge well. Also, these marine vhf radios pull a lot of current when transmitting so not just any battery pack will do. The voltage nose-dives a bit more than I expected but these hang in there. Very satisfied.

Charger Failure Led to Fire Hazard
The battery itself functions as expected and charges well. However, the included USB charger poses a serious safety risk. During use, rather than properly shutting down after the battery reached full charge, the charger began emitting a burning smell. It took us some time to locate the source, only to discover that the charger was melting and starting to actively burning. A USB charger should never reach a point where it overheats, melts, or causes a fire hazard. Properly designed chargers include safeguards to monitor charging conditions, prevent overcharging, and shut down in the event of an issue. This charger failed to meet those basic safety standards, making it dangerously unreliable. While the battery is fine, I cannot recommend this product as a whole due to the severe design flaw in the charger. Please use caution if you choose to purchase.

Great cost effective replacement for RC boat
Worked great for my son's RC boat. Charges well and doesn't get hot as it is charging. Fit his boat compartment well. Actually works much better than the original battery that came with the boat. Boat goes much faster now which is a win.

Quick install as replacement batteries
The battery packs in my solar flood lights were failing. They wouldn't hold charge. These were exact replacements. Easy to install. My solar lights are now back to providing the needed service in my yard.
