Definitely an edc knife!
Definitely an edc knife! I made the decision to purchase this knife because I wanted to retire my Griptilian which I've owned about 20 years. It was my 1st real quality blade, in comparison it's more substantial then its counter part the bugout. There is nothing wrong with the Benchmade bugout, accept that, it's good qualities work against it in my case. 1st the ergonomics, it feels very comfortable in the hand, i have small to medium size hands. I work as a handyman so there not skinny frail hands either. The knife is light, thin and it carries very well, you don't notice it's even there, and that's my concern. The griptilian is much bulkier/ robust so if it accidentally slips out of your pocket, you will feel it. Not do with the bugout. I enjoy using a more fuller knife, like the Coldsteel Recone 1. I do have other light, smaller blades like the Dosier which is a close comparison to the Bugout in size, weight and overall performance. It's not a 100% equivalent but at a fraction of the cost, it's pretty darn close, i choose not to carry the dosier for the same reason. It doesn't cost the same but the end result is a lost blade. If you make the purchase you won't be disappointed with the bugout, it's everything you thought it would be. I returned it, because I didn't want to toss it in a drawer and never use it but it is a good everyday carry. Hope this helps

10 out of 10 highly recommend this knife
I love benchmade knifes I’ve been rocking with them for quite some time now. I have never been disappointed with their products. I love this knife and always have it on me. Very sharp and reliable. Hands-down 10 out of 10. Highly recommend this knife.

The perfect gift knife.
I bought this knife as a gift for someone not into knives but who I read as someone who might get into knives with some pushing. They appreciated it! I replace the scales it comes with with titanium scales. Frankly, I don't really see the point of the CF-Elite scales. They are still plastic (not true carbon fiber), and plastic is plastic, who cares what kind? The plastic scales give this relatively expensive knife a cheaper feel so I definitely recommend metal scales of some sort. Other than that, this is a perfectly designed knife. The blade is thin and very good at slicing. The axis lock is fun and with a little practice very easy to open and close the knife with one handed. The centering was perfect out of the box and after disassembling and reassembling it was still perfect. The pivot is buttery smooth with the bronze phosphor washers after I applied some knife pivot lube. People say the springs wear out but frankly I have not experienced that myself. Other than the scales, the only real downside is probably the price.

Perfect lightweight EDC
I already have a few Benchmade and a few Zero Tolerance knife's as well as others. I wanted a super thin, light weight EDC with medium blade and the 535 Bugout fits the need perfectly. Light enough to also use as a backup sock knife. Pro's Lightweight, you barely know it's there The blade arrived sharp and ready to use The Givory CF scales are super light and have just enough grip Cons Not really any Would have been nice if the scale cross hatch would have gone from end to end for more grip Personal touches Inner edge of scales had a few slight burrs. Quick touch up with a manual deburring tool is all they needed Recurved the deep pocket clip for quicker draw Slightly loosened the pivot screw so the blade closes one handed just by pulling the Axis bar back

Very happy with the Bugout! (UPDATE - not so happy anymore)
UPDATE 4/23/21 I have to remove a couple of stars after owning this pocket knife for a week. I noticed that the scales have a rough edge from the factory, and it’s very noticeable. There’s also a non visible rough edge in the plastic that digs into your palm when opening the knife. It also turns out that the knife has blade play (moves side to side) when open, and very significant play when closed (literally touches the side). Blade grind is rough, but that’s something I can overlook. For the price however, I think the quality should be better. Decided not to keep this knife. ——— I didn’t know what to expect when placing an order for my Benchmade Bugout. The moment I pulled it out of its well crafted box and sleeve, I was delighted to see a pocket knife with a perfectly centered blade, razor sharp and so light - I’ve never imagined a knife could be this light! It literally disappears in the pocket, and I can’t feel it! All while feeling very durable and quality. Incredibly happy with this purchase, and will look at other Benchmade products in the future!
