Fabulous Filter Pump for Algae Blooms
I needed to write a review on this pump. We had a terrible algae bloom in our 120 gallon fish aquarium. I could barely see plants, rocks and wood pieces in the middle/back. I was skeptical about how this would work BUT after 1 week the algae is nearly all gone. My fish are happy again swimming around and the plants are getting healthier again. No fish died as some people have commented about this. I started out by running pump 4 hours a day for about 3 days and then next 4 days up to 8 hours. I have only great things to say about this pump. ALSO, it's much cheaper than the one the local store says I was needing and they also wanted to do all of this water testing first. I thought I would give this pump a try first and I'm sure glad I did.

This thing really works!
I have a 30 or 35 gallon fish tank that just turned green -- not algae on the glass, but in the water. We swapped out the water a couple of times, and still ended up with green water. Thick enough to not see thru, despite clearing drops and filter changes. I eventually searched for green fish tank water and this led me to the product. The packaging was funky -- it was an Amazon plastic shipping bag with the filter inside in a light cardboard box, which was partially crushed. I decided to try it anyway.I followed the directions -- run between 4 to 8 hours. It took about 4 or 5 days, but now it looks like the fish are swimming in air! The Filter processes so much water, it creates a flow in the tank that the fish seem to really like. This is a miracle, and not costly. I totally recommend it.

Didn't work
I purchased this item for an algea bloom in my tank. Recieved it, read instructions and followed the recommendations. 2 days passed and the bloom was worse. Took the light out to inspect it and didn't see any light in the indicator window so took the sleeve off and plugged it in. The light didn't turn on. I tried to remove the bulb, maybe I could order a replacement one...but it would not budge and I was afraid of shattering it. So, I returned it and asked for replacement. Once I got the replacement (next day, Amazon is amasing) I decided to plug it in first. The light did not turn on. I searched the internet for videos or help and all I found were negative reviews with the same light issues. The machine moved water fine. But the point is to have the water engage with the UV light, which did not work. So, returned it for a refund. I then purchased the same item from a different company, COODIA, of which I saw a video on YouTube of a successful tank installation with great results. I received the light, plugged it in and finally got what I needed. The UV light turned right on. Installed it right away and 2 days later the algea bloom has decreased significantly. Save your time, money and frustration. Buy COODIA instead.FYI: i asked a question from the seller and got this message..."Yes!!! You need to remove the bulb. There is a buffer between the bulb and the outlet to prevent breakage" however, when I tried to remove the bulb it would not budge and I was afraid to shatter it.

It really works!!
I’m just a regular guy who was just as doubtful about this product working as you probably are. But my tank was green and anything that I would do only seemed to make it worse. I had given up hope of being able to beat this green curse without the use of chemicals, which I wanted to avoid at all costs. Then I stumbled upon this device online and I figured why not give it a try. Within the first 24 hours I had already seen a difference and thought that maybe this would actually work. After 5 days my water was crystal clear again and I couldn’t believe it! Just plug it in and walk away. It really is that simple. My fish really liked the water jet it created too. They would play around in the jet all day. THIS PRODUCT WORKS!!!!The pictures are from day 1 (green) vs day 5 (clear)

Works Very Well But A Little Noisy
As I said it works very well, I had a bacterial bloom in my 65 gallon reef and it was cleared up in less than 24 hours. The unit is a little noisy, I can hear the pump when I enter the room but it's not horribly loud. The flow is pretty strong even when adjusted to it's lowest setting so you do get some water surface breaking noise.

Quick solution to my problem!
I had a bad algae bloom. Our tank is exposed to a decent amount of light and it also didn't seem to be getting better after a couple months of fighting it. Since getting this, it's clearing finally without me having to do anything! It's so releasing and my tank doesn't make me cringe anymore! Some had recommended keeping it dark and waiting it out but that seemed to take forever and my kids and I were ready to have a nice tank. I'm hoping this doesn't come back as soon as I remove the device but thankfully I can just reuse it anytime! It does create a fast flow/water movement in a tank so if you have a small tank, this is not ideal. Mine is a 29gal and it seemed to work. I kept it on for about 8-12 hours a day but have been turning it off every evening till morning.

Green water killer
I have several 5 Watt Green Water Killer pumps. They work great in a 10 to 20 gal. tank. I was not happy with the results in my 30 gal. tank, so I decided to go with a 9 watt Ultra Violet pump. Wow! What a difference. This pump moves 200 gal. per hour with a 9 Watt Ultra Violet bulb. I could not be more satisfied. You can't locate this pump too close to the waters surface. It will blow the water out of your tank. I do my water changes on the weekend and always add bacteria to the water. I don't run the pump for 3 days or the bacteria will be killed by the ultra violet light. At day 4 I run the pumps for 4 hours per day until the weekend. to repeat the cleaning process.
