what makes this suitable for an 11-speed chain but not other speeds?

each chain is unique like a shimano chain will not work with a Sram cassette. the 11 speed is different from a 12 speed or a 10 speed the lenght and width on each is slight but different.

should both sides arrows point the same direction? all the parts are identical so each side will be in a different direction

Quality Shimano Product

Quick disconnect option for easier chain removal. Have them on all my bikes. Makes cleaning much easier than without it. Easy to install and reusable. Will need chain breaker to install on existing chain, and maybe quick link pliers (for removal after installation).

Solved clicking problem

I got this to replace the link that came with the new Ultegra chain I got directly from a Trek retailer. This link would always make a clicking sound at the jockey wheel which I tried to fix with more lubrication of the pin to no avail. The new link solved the issue - no more clicking noises.
