As this is flat on the bottom it is more an adjustable depth tamper than a distribution tool but it feels good in the hand and works well. Perfect size for mu Barrister Express portafilter.I set the depth using the Razor tool that Sage supply and with 18 Gms of coffee it gave me an excellent exraction using a double shot basket.I recommend this device.

It's very solid and heavy, I think is well built. Super easy to clean and to adjust, I keep switching between single and double basket and to me is easy enough to adjust just screwing and unscrewing. Some reviewers claim it's uneven, mine is fine. I recommend I just wish it was also a distributer but I struggle to find a tamper & distributer combined for 54mm baskets.

Serve my purpose. It is heavy and that what it should be so you can distribute the coffee equally. You may use it as tamper if you adjust the height it works for both distribution and tamping but can’t use it for both simultaneously you have to use it either for distributing or tamping.

Thought to myself that this was a neat little thing and it would help me get a nice level tamp. After checking one time though I could see that it was higher in one side of the basket than the other. A quick review of the groove around the metal piece showed that it was higher on one side than the other so impossible to tamp level. Don’t know if because of the central threaded section or just poor tolerances in construction, but am a bit let down. The search continues
