Another good one, Hill!
I look forward to any new novels by this author, because I have enjoyed most of what she's written. This one was thankfully wonderful, and I can't help but question how this author can still create some unique and refreshing romance novels after having created so many others already!Assuming you read the synopsis, I'll say this:- Great characters! Both are highly intelligent and display strength and confidence.- There's a realistic and slowly built romance that is convincing and exciting to see grow. Nothing overly erotic either.- The dialogue amongst all of the characters seemed fluid and acceptable. Most romances struggle with dialogue by making it cheesy, choppy and in no way authentic, especially when there's a crime/thriller or other genre added in. However, this author does a great job blending other genres into her romance!Great story, and I look forward to what Hill might be thinking of next!

Read at your own risk
First and foremost let me say that I love Gerri Hill! I only "liked" this book though. This was a book that was lacking development of it's characters and the plot was just thrown in. This is not a love story or mystery. I guess you can call it a lystery. I don't know, I think a lot of authors are trying to write too many books instead of just one quality book! I mean, girl meets girl, then they flirt, (if that's what you call it), then sleep together. Ok, now we are dating. Just no real development of the characters. Next is the plot, which was weak at best. It is a far cry from Gerri's Killing room or the Hunter series. There was no suspicion in this book, we all knew who did it! I was just totally disappointed with this book.

Light crime/romance and a little ripper.
4.5 starsThis is a little ripper from Hill. The characters are smart and capable. One is a former FBI agent and the other is a former detective. Both choose to move to a small town and join the local police force. There is a lot of flirting, and quite a bit of heat between them, which is always fun to read. There is also a crime thriller that runs through the book as well. This gives the two main characters the impetus to engage with one another, which also puts them both in some peril. Both aspects of the book are really well handled by Hill, who manages both the crime elements and the romantic elements well, and the mix is perfect. This is just a really well put together book. I thoroughly enjoyed it for the light crime/romance that it is.

Just a peaceful little town, until . . .
I love a lesbian love story that is so intense that I can't put the book down. Not because the heroines are hot for each other and make it to bed by the third chapter--no, it's because there is an exciting story and obstacles that must be overcome BEFORE they can hop into bed. SAWMILL SPRINGS by Gerri Hill, a writer with a long resume and time to hone her craft, is one of those books. I just kept turning the pages to see what would happen next. Homicide detective Mandi Murphy and FBI agent Kayla Dixon both move to Sawmill Springs to join the police force because of things that happened to them elsewhere that they want to get away from and forget. The small community of Sawmill Springs seems to offer that possibility--an easy routine with little or no drama. The two new patrol officers barely say hello to each other when a killing is reported, something that hasn't happened around the town for years. So the young women are off and running to solve first one murder and then another and another. Who has time to realize that this new partner is a lesbian? Or to give in to fantasies and wishes? There's a job to be done, and it's shaking up the whole town. Loved this book.

There better be a sequel to this!
I can never go wrong with any book from Gerri Hill, she always knows how to combine a mystery, romance and the great outdoors together. Mandi Murphy and Kayla are both beautiful, professional law enforcement agents who both left busy city lives and top careers to work as patrol officers in Sawmill Springs. The only thing is that Kayla is the Chief's daughter and Mandi was afraid to get involved with her but the investigation Kayla and Mandi were working on brought a lot of surprises their way, surprises they never dreamed were possible.

A good read
Implausible at times, typical Gerri Hill style, sometimes rushed, always fun thoughIn order for the author to be so prolific, sometimes implausible is unavoidableAnd as a fan of Gerri Hills novels, I'm open to ignoring some of the holes in the plot at timesI couldn't put the book down, a great way to spend a winter weekendLoved it, and highly recommend Sawmill Springs

Another great mystery with romance, too
I have yet to read a Gerri Hill novel I didn't like. This one was one of her best. As usual, a real page turner. When some of the top movers and shakers in a small town start showing up dead, you'll never guess who's behind it or why. Great story.

Hill nails it again!
This is a really good murder mystery with a touch of romance. If you're looking for erotica or the main theme being romance this is not the book for you. This is about murder and a growing attraction between 2 Officers. I loved how Hill kept the flirting going throughout the book & didn't have them call right into bed with the typical "I love you's" like other lesbian novels. Definitely a fun one to read.
