Excellent port of two very unique first person shooters
At the time of writing this short review, I just finished Metro 2033 - somewhere right at around 10 hours of playtime.I had played some of this game not long after the original version had released but recall getting stuck early on and giving up on it. Flash forward to 2020 and the improvements and additional gameplay options provided in the Redux package have breathed new life into these games for me. The ability to play in “Spartan” mode is what made vs broke this game experience for me. I’m not generally into meticulous, painful survival horror games - so being able to play through this first title with more ammo (more akin to a traditional shooter) was a must. The Metro games are heavy in atmosphere, immersive, depressing-yet-hopeful, and always tinged with a feeling of dread. While mostly linear per each progressing chapter, I found there were always secret areas in each small sandbox area to find if I searched hard enough. This always leads to an extra sense of reward for going off the beaten path. The gunplay and other actions all carry a unique weightiness to them. I grew to really appreciate the motions of wiping water or blood off of my visor, recharging flashlight batteries, reloading and firing my weapons, and crafting them to fit my play style. The flow of the game and breaking of chapters is done mostly well in my opinion. Enough to keep the pacing feeling quick while providing some momentary respite in some non-threatening NPC centers. I was consistently engaged and interested in the story, liked the lead protagonist and several comrades throughout, and easily immersed in this dark world. Very well done. While I can’t speak to Last Light yet (hope to start it soon), I can easily say that 2033’s port to the Switch was/is fantastic. The quality of graphics and FPS of the game was consistent and extremely impressive for being scaled down to fit and run on the Switch’s hardware. I had no graphical issues or frame drops throughout my 10ish hours of playtime. The work that the dev team put into this port is astonishing and I’m so glad they did it themselves. Easily one of the most impressive ports I’ve seen on the system so far (among Divinity Original Sin 2 and The Witcher 3).All in all, you are getting two excellent, atmospheric, immersive, gritty, pulse pounding first person shooters in this package. On top of that, it says the 10 hour DLC to Last Light is always included. That’s an amazing deal! Additionally, you have the options to play Survival or Spartan, depending on your preference, because it is the Redux versions. AND it’s ALL on the cart. No extra downloads required. That’s a HUGE plus in my book. Lastly, the game is already discounted on Amazon - and at around $40 this is an absolute steal.Couldn’t recommend enough.

Metro 2033 Redux & Metro: Last Light Redux & significant DLC ¡!
Want bang for your buck? Seeking a truly gripping and gritty post-apocalyptic experience on your Switch, then stop scrolling and add Redux to your collection.Based on the celebrated novels by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, this package (often the Redux version) delivers two full, phenomenal games plus all substantial [approx 19gb] worth of DLC,L plunging you deep into the hauntingly beautiful ruins of Moscow. The immersion here is absolute, drawing you into its realistically dark and unforgiving world. You'll navigate claustrophobic, often dimly-lit metro tunnels where every shadow can hide danger, and brave the toxic, irradiated surface. The quality graphics truly shine in bringing this chilling atmosphere and the fight for survival to vivid life. It's not just about looks; this excellent gameplay has approx 17hrs in gameplay yet earning 100% is about 65hrs.Intense, dark and visceral. Combat against terrifying mutants and desperate human factions, demanding both skill and strategy that feels authentically challenging with great quality. For FPshooters or survival horror this game is inspired and be game into this combined two different games with dark narratives embracing survival realism. This collection is an incredible value and a definitive gaming experience though it's one player only.Good recommended to any collection !

Awesome port, of an awesome game.
Great game, amazing world design, and story. The world reminds me of a more linear Fallout, if that makes sense. Controls are all very intuitive, and it’s runs great on the switch, I played both titles on my OLED, and never had any freezing, or framerate drops, overall in my opinion, if you’re into post apocalyptic games, it’s a great game.

Great post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Fantastic graphics and stable frame rate even in handheld mode.
Great post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Fantastic graphics and stable frame rate even in handheld mode. Motion control helps a lot with aiming.Cons: The game is too dark although the graphics is great. It is a little bit hard to play and a lot of stressed situations even on Normal level although it is very linear. Wanted to quit it a few times because of this. Vibration is not HD and I recommend to disable it in the start of the game.Metro Last Light Redux has more stealth possibilities and locations to use it if compare with 2033. More interesting places, tasks and stories then 2033. It is definitely a leap forward comparing with 2033.Took around 30 hours for me to finish two games with some additional locations exploration.Levels load time is ok. Got a few bugs in the game like stucked in the wall or dropped off of the game with some error message from Switch. The game will take ZERO additional space on your device if you bought a physical copy which is great as a lot of games like Assassin’s Creed or Bioshock will download additional 5-10 GB of content. Great value.
