Go to set up for any beginner or novice elk caller/hunter!
If you are new to elk calling, like me, this setup is the ticket. The cow call is easy to use and the only limitation to the bugle tube is the caller themselves. I was worried that the fabric wrap to the bugle tube was not going to be vey durable, but after pushing through brush a number of times, it held up well. The diaphragm call is a single layer of latex. At first I thought it would tear easily, but it held up well.Regardless of if this is your first or tenth elk call, I cannot stress enough practice, practice, practice- before going out in the field practice with these calls. Know where you want to place the call in your mouth and how much pressure you need to get the right tone. The last thing you want is to blow an opportunity because you we’re not prepared.

Practice is necessary
This is a good product to use for imitating bugling done by elk. The item comes with just one reed and if you're serious about producing different types of bugling, you'll want to purchase the three set of reeds, which make different sounds. Then, you need to practice.....practice.....practice!It takes a bit of practice to learn how to create the bugling sounds and with the different reeds. I started out blowing too hard and the sounds were not good. Once I toned that down and practiced with it, I got the sounds of elk to be quite good.Using the tube with it gives a slightly different tone to the call and again, practicing with it will help. I spent about 30 minutes and had it good enough to get elk to respond to my bugling. There is a wildlife refuge nearby and there are hundreds of elk there. Rutting season is at the very beginning and I'm sure as the weeks go by, they will respond even moreso.I only use this item to get a response from the elk; I am not a hunter of this animal. However, hunters will appreciate what sounds this can make. The one drawback to this item, and when learning how to use it, is that there are no good instructions that come with it. If you want to learn how to use the reeds and tube, I went to YouTube and found numerous videos on how to do just that.Recommended!

Not bad for a beginner
It’s primarily a cow Cole, very high pitch volume. Not that you can’t use it for a bugle but it just doesn’t have the low tones that you might be looking for, but not a bad one to get started.

Giftable
Great for hunters RealisticThe smaller mouthpiece included can be a choking hazard for kids so I don’t advise them to use it.. but well made and excellent!

Excellent Bugle & Diaphragm Produced Great Results
I used this bugle with the orange diaphragm to bugle in a 7x6 bull elk for my buddy. The bull elk came into 10 yards. Also had 2 other bow hunters come over the ridge looking for me.Game over for the bull elk, the 2 other bow hunters were not harmed. LOL

Worked great for 15 total minutes, never made it to the field
It took a few minutes to figure out the mouth piece harmonics, but there was a nice instructional guide that came with it that helped.I used the entire assembly for about 15 minutes and was making some decent elk calls in my house (much to my girlfriend’s dismay). Once I got it dialed and felt confident for hunting season, I stowed both components in a safe corner of my room.Today I went to investigate and it was clear that the mouth piece had degraded somehow (see pic) and when I went to use it, it no longer created the high pitch humming noise needed for the elk bugle.I’m outside of the return window and now I’m stuck with it.@Rocky Mountain Radar any thoughts on this?
