Palladio

Excellent book. This is the same book in paperback that is going for $800 hardbound.
A great overview of Palladio, in a compact version. I was amazed to see the same book, large hardbound version being offered for $800 . Buy the small version, has the same text, and is good for all levels of interest in architectural history, art history. Accessible, yet scholarly.

thorough intro to his work
Glad to have read in depth prior to traveling to the Veneto. Will enjoy recognizing, confirming, etc. concepts I read here.

A little too basic
I read and listened to this on a recent trip in Italy - on the train ride from Venice to Vicenza to see Palladio's Teatro Olympico. It was helpful it was available in portable formats (i.e. Kindle and audio on iTunes). So I did arrive in an hour, knowing Something about Palladio. It's certainly not in depth. I think it could have said more. I did not feel sufficiently informed about Palladio and geometry. It's perhaps a little too basic of a book on the architect.

Palladio synosis
This is a small paperback, which reviews Palladio's life and work. I have other more extensive and better illustrated works, but this is adequate for an introduction to his work

Not what I needed
I wanted a fairly brief presentation on Palladio, how he fit into his times and the nature of his contributions to architecture and art. This book I found rather dry and technical, and on ebook, it was impossible to find the references or to link illustrations and text.

very nice
it feels cool when others have no books while i got one in kindle. even though sth went not that smoothly about nationality.

A masterpiece of architectural history
A masterpiece of architectural history, this book is best read in it's original format, not the EBook. Explains Palladio's genius, which was essential to the Renaissance, in a very clear and concise manner and details all of the elements particular to his style in a way which will make it always recognizable to you.I am re-reading it, and I'm not an architect.I used it once 20 years ago to find Palladio buildings in Italy when I was travelling around.James Ackerman recently passed away, it is a good time to re-visit this masterpiece of writing which will make you fall in love with Italian Architecture and allow you to see Palladio's influence which continues to this day.

Palladio
A bit too academic for me - but a masterful study of the master architect. It's good to find a book written by an academic that is less than 500 pages long.
