Orthodoxy by G. K. Chesterton

I've only discovered Chesterton recently, but... Wow!
This book was written around 1905. You read it and many of today's falsehoods bandied about as self evident truths were already dismantled by this intellectual giant over 100 years ago. Read this book, and then reread two more times. It is amazing.

Chesterton at his best
Great, timeless work that will aid anyone struggling with all the crazy in the world today. I believe it is even more helpful to know it was first published in 1908. No matter how dark the world gets, one is reminded there is nothing new under the sun. God is still in control, no matter how pervasive evil appears.

Brilliant mind contemplating the weight of Christianity
This book highly influenced CS Lewis and is similar to Mere Christianity. GK has a rather meandering way to prove his points, and the first 3 chapters are a tough slog BUT you MUST stay with it — the rest of the chapters are absolutely brilliant and SO relevant to secular society today even though written in 1908.

Extremely good book
You will need to reread this over a couple times to really get his ideas. Its not difficult to read in a grammatical sense, but its very important to go slow

Not made by a publisher
I like Chesterton. He can be difficult to read since he throws in so much of what was happening in his time and places relevant to England into his books. He also throws in a fair amount of sarcasm and humor. The story is excellent, it just the quality of the book that I have issues with. This book was printed the day I ordered it and it feels like it was made by someone in their basement.
