Toddlers love this book
Great interactive book. There are tabs to pull to make some of the dogs head, tail, or legs move. And some textures for the kids to feel.

Fun book for kids who love dogs
This book was a fav for both of my girls back in the late 90's.Thick pages that are interactive with touch (soft, fuzzy) and parts that move. This is my go-to gift for toddlers who love dogs!

Kids love this
Has a lot of tactile sections. Wish they had more. Kids love these dogs and it applies to many ages. Older kids can recognize different breeds.

Wonderful Book. Keeps babies engaged.
I bought this book for my 7-month old grandson. Since I taught his dad how to say "puppy" with a similar book when he was 9 months old, I wanted a book with lots of actual pictures of dogs and puppies. This book has that and much more. Several of the pages have pull-tabs to make a tail wag or a leg scratch... or a cute surprise at the end. Other pages have soft ears or sticky tongues to touch, along with lots of textures on tails and backs. The array of breeds presented is wonderful, and the book is surprisingly sturdy. It's a little bigger than I expected, but I like that. It's a good size, just right for little hands to explore. My grandson gets very excited when we bring the book out. He will sit with me for the longest time just looking at each dog and exploring all the different textures and motions on each page. We particularly like getting to meet each dog by name at the end of the book. I would highly recommend this book to parents and grandparents who not only enjoy reading to their children, but also enjoy exploring.

Hands on, funny and adorable!
I saw this book before I was even pregnant and I knew I had to buy it. When my daughter was born, my mom bought it for her, and now that she's almost a year old, my daughter LOVES the book. We have 2 dogs of our own, so naturally she's already interested in dogs and fluffy things. We encourage her to feel all the different textures (she likes the Old English sheepdog's fur the best), and she is so interested that she'll explore them several times before she allows me to turn the page. She also loves the moving parts and tries pulling the tabs herself. The book has been tossed onto the floor and thrown around more than I would like, and it has stood up very well to the abuse. We have other books by Matthew Van Fleet, but this is my daughter's favorite. I highly recommend it to anyone with a child who loves dogs or touch and feel books.UPDATE: The book has finally started falling apart. My daughter looks at it every day about 20 times a day. She ripped off the head of the dog shaking itself dry, and has now busted the spine. Would I buy it again? YOU BET!

Not just for toddlers....
My husband bought this book for our 4 year old (who is famous among everyone we know for being both a book lover and a dog lover), and it is, not surprisingly, one of her favorites. She took it to her pre-K class today, and when I picked her up, her teachers were raving about it! They said that they read it at least three times to the class and that it was the hit of the day! The fun starts before the book is even opened. The tails of the three dogs on the cover are touch-and-feel furry or wag with the pull of a tab. It just gets better from there. This book is packed with a wide variety of clever and creative interactive tricks that are well integrated with the entertaining verbiage. The book is, in fact, clever enough to engage my husband, myself, and our older children; even my college aged daughter is currently petting, pulling, and generally getting a kick out of this book as I write this review. I am online now to order another copy as a gift to my daughter's preschool in her name. Otherwise, she will want to bring this book to school every day for the rest of the year! We highly recommend this book!
