Ruffwear, Front Range Dog Chest Harness, Basalt Gray, XX-Small

The Ruffwear Front Range Reflective Soft Padded Harness with dual leash clips is very well made. It appears to be comfortable, but Bernie, our 110+ lb. Bernedoodle, hates putting on any harness. It’s easy to put on and adjust, when Bernie isn’t making us chase him around the house to do it! The harness has high-quality stitching, multiple adjustment points, and feels strong and durable. It has held up incredibly well to everything we’ve put it through, including hiking and, more importantly, Bernie’s constant pulling to play with every dog who crosses our path. Bernie is a serious puller, so I purchased this harness in April 2026 but waited four months to write my review so I could put it through the full “Bernie test.” It passed with flying colors! Even though he still pulls like he’s training for the Iditarod, the harness has held up beautifully and is definitely Bernie-approved! Now, if only I could find a way to make him stop pulling… but that’s a training task for another day!

Great harness. Fits my leonberger just fine and he doesnt seem to mind wearing it on long hikes. Very well made and thought out. The harness is very easy to use and adjust. Dog is very secure in it, and I feel a lot better using it than just the collar. No pulling on his neck. I use a collar from the same company and the quality is just as good. Design is cool too. Been using for a week, will update if anything goes wrong but I dont think it will.

I couldn’t be happier with the Ruffwear Front Range Dog Harness—this has been a total win for both me and my dog. The fit is absolutely perfect (I got the X-Small), and it’s clear this harness was designed with comfort in mind. My dog usually fusses with new gear, but she didn’t mind this at all—in fact, she seemed comfortable right away. No rubbing, no irritation, just a secure and lightweight feel that doesn’t restrict her movement. The padding is soft but durable, and the adjustable straps made it super easy to get the right fit. I also love the dual leash clips—especially the front clip for training and better control during walks. It’s made a noticeable difference. The reflective trim is a great bonus for early morning or evening walks, adding an extra layer of safety. And the Basalt Gray color looks clean and stylish. If you have a corgi and cannot find the right harness, I highly recommend trying this. I bought the size small. It fits my corgi perfectly. He is getting over being very ill and he lost a lot of weight before the vet caught what it was, so this is fitting him at the smallest size possible around his chest. I added room atound his neck because he is so floofy, if I tighten it more, its harder to get off because of his maine. As he gains weight back, I will be able to loosen it, which let's me know I got the perfect size for him. He is 26 lbs currently, and needs to gain at least another 3 lbs still. Before he got ill, I spent too much trying to find a harness that works for him because he really doesn't like collars. This harness is perfect, the chest part is longer than I expected, but this is exactly why I like it. It's not too short for his long little self like almost every other harness Ive tried. It has a good sturdy metal piece on the back for getting him on a leash or his outdoor chain. There is also a smaller loop on the front, which I will personally not use, it doesn't seem as sturdy. I love how padded and thick it is around his chest, it doesn't catch and rub on his still sensitive lymph nodes. He actually enjoys wearing it, I get a little butt-wag when I pick it up. It's super easy to figure out too, the buckles are solid quality. I am just ecstatic that I found this. Although, it should be noted, my corgi boy has always been a super calm dog, even as a puppy, he's just quiet and calm. So, I cannot speak to the durability with a hyper dog in it.

I wanted to take the strain off my little guy's neck, and since he's a well-behaved walker, a harness seemed like just the thing. This one is so easy to put on — even for a squirmy pup. It's padded, so he seems completely comfortable in it. The clips that fasten it as well as the leash hooks are strong, so I have no concerns about inadvertent openings. One thing I hadn’t considered about using the front leash attachment, however, is that, since my pup has very short legs (like a corgi), he trips on a slack leash attached in the front, thereby essentially making that feature useless for us. Fortunately, he's not a puller, but perhaps a note could be added in the description alerting people with short-legged dogs. One other slight issue is that the fabric seems to show dirt very easily even though we've used it for less than a week and around the neighborhood — not in fields or dusty areas. I wonder if spraying it with a stain repellent might have been a good idea. All in all, minor issues aside, this is a very well-made harness, and I hope to use it for a long time.

It's definitely sturdy and well made but comfortable. It's super easy to put on and our pup doesn't mind it all! It's well made and even the color is pretty.

I bought these for my two male Shiba Inu, they both weigh around 22 lbs so I bought the Small in the Blue Pool color, and the color is gorgeous!. This harness is excellent quality and fits them perfectly. There are a few negatives of this harness I want to mention though. They fit really tightly over the head and so my shiba's will duck and weave when I try to put it on them. They tolerate this harness but they don't love this harness. Another negative is that these harnesses are not easy to adjust at all. Like all harnesses you have to make sure you adjust them so they fit not too tight and not to loose. The other negative is that Ruff Wear doesn't carry them in many colors. Ruff Wear also has the WebMaster harness which is escape proof because it has two belly straps, but they really don't have any pretty colors. I have also introduced my Shiba's to the Julius K9 IDC harness and WOW! What a game changer! Now they sit patiently smiling and let me slip this harness on. It is so fast and easy I am just shocked and happy how easy it is to put on and off. And it looks super cute on them too! I also tried the Joy Ride Harness on them and they hated it. It is not comfortable at all. The straps are scratchy and the belly buckle is huge and rubs them directly on the back of their front legs! Joy Ride harnesses come in a lot more pretty colors but the quality of their product is awful! I returned the Joy Ride Harnesses. I really wish Julius K9 harnesses came in as many colors as the Joy Ride does. That said, I highly recommend the Julius K9 harness if you have a Shiba Inu. Another great harness that my male Shiba love is the Comfort Flex Harness. They sit patiently smiling when I put the Comfort Flex Harness on too! I also have a female Shiba Inu and she is a classic escape artist and I keep her in the Ruff Wear Front Range.

Ruffwear harnesses have been a stable in our household for many years. Recently, we replaced our golden retrievers harnesses. Our goldens where are their harnesses frequently and are very adventurous. I like that it has a hidden pocket where I can store a tracking device and my contact information just in case something unexpected happens. These harnesses are very durable, our golden like to roll around can pull hard at times and really try to beat them up. In addition I appreciate the handles. We have an elderly golden retriever and it helps me to be able to move him around in steep areas or on stairs. The multiple connection points allow us to flex where we hook in with our dog leashes. The dogs seem very comfortable, wearing their harnesses for extended periods of time the reflective trim provide provides added visibility at night. I feel like they allow us to do activities in a safe and dog, friendly manner.

J’ai acheté ce harnais Ruffwear Avant pour mon Shiba, connu pour être un petit expert de la fuite 😅. ✅ Points positifs : le harnais tient très bien, il est vraiment anti-fuite, sans être étouffant ni gênant. Le tissu est respirant et léger, ce qui le rend confortable même lors des longues promenades. Les sangles sont faciles à ajuster et le design est à la fois sobre et élégant. 🧠 Mon avis global : c’est un excellent harnais pour les chiens vifs ou craintifs. Mon Shiba s’y est très vite habitué et je me sens rassurée lors des balades.

Mit Abstand das beste. Wir haben schon einige ausprobiert, aber keins wollte so recht sitzen. Dieses passt perfekt und macht einen sehe hochwertigen Eindruck.

C’est le deuxième que j’achète parce que j’en suis satisfaite. Il ne restait malheureusement qu’une seule couleur en XS. Le premier s’est déchiré en dessous sur les bords en 2 ans. J’ai considéré que c’était normal même si l’usure a été un peu rapide car nous faisons beaucoup de promenades. J’ai racheté le même malgré un prix assez élevé par rapport à d’autres marques car j’ai l’impression que mon chien tire moins qu’autrefois (quand il avait un harnais d’une autre marque). C’est un petit chien qui a l’habitude de beaucoup tirer et avec ce harnais, c’est moins pire. Je pense que ce harnais est meilleur pour sa santé et pourra lui éviter des douleurs articulaires ou aux épaules. Il me semble bien équilibrer le poids du chien et les forces de traction. C’est pourquoi j’ai jugé cet investissement utile. Mon chien est un chihuahua commun de 5,5 kgs avec de la carrure et un petit cou. Le harnais lui convient bien. Il est très facile à enfiler. Par contre il est difficile à ajuster les premières fois. Nous n’avons pas fini les ajustements. La notice nous invite à faire les ajustements directement sur le chien mais ce n’est pas si simple. Il me faut un certain temps pour y arriver et que mon chien soit parfaitement confortable avec les deux sangles mises pile à la bonne taille de chaque côté, et d’une longueur parfaitement identiques, ce n’est pas évident. Par contre une fois que c’est fait, ça dure dans le temps.
