A very interesting and highly informative book for anyone seeking more energy in their lives.
For over five decades my passion to search for all kinds of knowledge, both scientific and esoteric has always motivated me to read and study thousands of books on a wide variety of topics. Martial arts, physical fitness, health, meditation and proper breathing for ultimate health have always been an important part of my lifestyle. I recently saw a book on the Amazon Vine program (The power of vital force: Fuel your energy, purpose, and performance with ancient secrets of breath and meditation by Rajshree Patel) which sparked my interest. Even though I was familiar with many of the concepts and philosophy presented in this 275 page soft cover book; nevertheless, the author clarified more clearly many things I was hazy on when it comes to breathing techniques, meditation methods and the limitations of the mindfulness promotor's philosophy. Since reading this book I have changed my normal routine and practice the breathing and meditation (similar to TM using a mantra) methods explained in this book. The fourteen chapters covers the following material: energy is life, beyond belief, ancient biohacking, a machine called mind, the past is present, the mindfulness trap, the secret of life, meditation for busy people, living your inner superpowers, mastering your mind-set, from fighting to flowing, cutting craving, undivided mind and it’s all connected. I really enjoyed reading this book and learned a lot of valuable tips to improve my living in the now and having more energy. I highly recommend this book, but to really grasp these concepts taking a class by the author would help clarify many of the points made in her book.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Martial art and warrior Haiku and Senryu)

Not just another book on meditation
I have read plenty of books on meditation and struggled with mindfulness and daily practice for a number of years. While few of us can ever truly reach enlightenment, Rajshree Patel makes the practice accessible and definitely relatable. I particularly enjoyed her comparison of mindful meditation where many seek to intensify focus as opposed to Vedic meditation which allows the mind to relax, loosen focus and go where it goes. I think that advice all by itself was what really helped me to break through the blocks in my own personal meditation practice more than any other advice I have read to date.

Came for help, ended with confusion.
**This book is like picking up a book about how to make cakes, and the book only tells you about the chef, the history of cakes, a run down on a single cake, and what all the cakes taste like, but no inclusion of how to make cakes...**I came to this book looking for the secrets of breath and meditation. Unfortunately all I got was an autobiography, a history lesson, and some dilly dally. There's even a shameless plug of her "11 day online course". The book isn't a complete waste but there's more filler than there is actual instruction of meditation. To me this really wasn't what I was looking for, this is definitely not a how to book, more like gentle guidance.

Not my cup of tea
I expected to enjoy this book far more than I did...the topic is one of intense interest to me but somehow, it simply didn't click. The beginning of the book is filled with a lot of background about the author which should have been interesting but instead, sounded like name dropping. Then it went downhill. Rather than provide any evidence or even historical context, the author spends an inordinate amount of time discussing her own experience. While that may prove beneficial at times, it provides minimal insight for readers to make up their own mind. I don't want to be "sold", I want to be informed and this missed the mark.

Satisfies the intellect and nourishes the spirit
I have to be honest. Thought I knew a lot already about how to live happily and to the full potential. But this book has a way of tie-ing all loose ends and weave all the threads of life to make it into a seamless continuous solid fabric ! The vital force aka Prana and how it can be so readily available to us has been demystified so beautifully by Rajshree. She has not only appealed to the intellect but also satisfied the curiosity so the mind can settle while the spirit dives into vitality. I have been a techie all my life and would not go on without putting these teachings to practice !

Light on substance, repetitive
This book isn't very well written, nor does it offer much actual useful information. The author spends much of the book just restating her points in different ways, but they weren't all that complex or deep to begin with, so it comes off as her having very little to say and just trying to package it into a full-length book, rather than it being a nice way to see the ideas from different angles. This book smacks of someone who got a book deal for her position and years of experience (which are not in question in her case) but should've put more into her book, both in terms of the writing and the quality of the ideas presented. Unfortunately, it seems to be more of a promotional vehicle for her online courses than as a worthwhile read in itself. All that said, if you're brand new to these subjects and like your books to be like Wonderbread (low on nutritional substance but can give you the feel of having eaten somethingf), you might get something out of it.

Want more energy? Read this book :)
The author, Rajshree, brings such an intelligent, practical and truly-lived approach to finding calm, energy & peace of mind. It's rare to find someone who embodies both reason and a mystical sense of ease and aliveness. Rajshree does just that, at least that's what comes through in the book. Listening to her, I found new questions rising up — contemplative questions, deep questions — and a very reasoned train of thought leading me further ahead to new ideas, insights and "Aha" moments. A thoroughly delightful read! And I definitely feel more alive (and vital!)
