Where is best to place this unit? By the window? Middle of room?

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out! The unit can go anywhere just make sure it's about 6 inches away from any wall or furniture and that all windows and doors are shut.

where can I buy 411 filters, not available on amazon?

Hi there, Amazon does sell the Blueair filters on Amazon. In fact, Blueair has their own website on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=blueair+411+filter&crid=22JFA379FMLFB&sprefix=blueair%2Caps%2C245&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_11_7. Or just type in Blueair 411 filter when you're in Amazon and it goes straight to Blueair's Amazon web page. Hope this helps!

Can i use this with the blueair 411a max model? that model is wider at the bottom, not straight up and down like this filter. thanks!

No. Max units can only take Max filters for the specific model.

Our unit is on auto or night mode in our bedroom, w/ air quality light usually blue. After just 6 weeks, the replace filter reds are on. Normal???

Perhaps remove and clean the lint screen ( wrapped outside covering ) might clear it...plus examine the inside filter at same time. Be mindful of the general air quality in the room ....this unit might be Signalling an issue. Good health to you.
