they take about 20 minutes to bake, but there is also a "rest/raise" time to consider. It might work if you made the dough ahead of time and let it rise. Then, just had your residents do one final kneed and form the pretzels for you before putting them in the oven.

It says on the front of the box! Look above the German flag on the bottom right side, it says that it makes 8 to 10 pretzels! Enjoy!

Do you have to use the lye, what are they like if you don't use the lye?

Haven't tried this mix but I do make pretzels from scratch. If you skip the lye, they feel and taste less like pretzels and more like just pretzel-shaped regular bread. The lye gives it a tangy depth of flavor that makes it taste like a pretzel.
