Neruda is overrated. Maybe the poems lost meaning over in translation. I really had high expectations from him after reading all the nice reviews. Maybe it just depends on ones tastes. Only a few sonnets were impactful.

Pablo Neruda is famous for his poetry...This book of his love sonnets and poems des not disappoint...

The 3 stars are because the top of the book is dirty and almost looks like mildew. It smells fine so I don’t know what it is. I purchased this book for a friend’s birthday and now I’m embarrassed to give it to her.As far as the book, it’s outstanding, far more than 5 stars, because it’s Neruda and this translation is known to be among the best. I hope my friend enjoys his writing as much as I do.
