Product received compared to money spent is outstanding!! This is a handmade tool for outdoor activities.Fit and finish are fantastic. Crazy sharp. The sheath is super heavy duty and built like a tank! Knife is very comfortable in hand and l am quite sure it will preform well with any task, within reason, it's not an axe!!! As with any tool , one must respect it's limits! I expect this awesome knife to last me a very long time with reasonable care! These BPS knifes are absolutely the best value for money on the market today!!! I own three of them and l am quite happy with all of them!!! If you're on the fence, pick the one that best suits your needs and buy it, you will be glad you did! These are simple, strong and no BS knifes of outstanding value!!!

A very nice knife and sheath
In case you're wondering, the ferro rod is inside the sheath. This is a quality tool, and the sheath is amazing. The first thing I did is to remove the scales and force a patina on the entire blade to avoid rust. It came out very well. The knife is very sharp. The spine has crisp sharp edges for striking sparks, and a serrated section near the grip. The handle is a bit small for my big hands, but feels nice. There is a hole at the end of the grip for adding a lanyard. Mine will be Day-Glo orange.

Great value
For the money? You can't beat it. I watch a couple of YouTube reviews raving about this knife. My observations after 1 day of owning it:1. It's sharp, but not as scary sharp as people claim (at least mine wasnt). Not a big problem.2. Decent edge retention. I cut up a bunch of cardboard, and it can still cut paper.3. Some reviews showed corrosion on the blade or beneath the handle scales that needed cleaning up. Mine had some patina, no rust, not bad at all. I just cleaned, oiled, and put the scales back on.4. The value on this thing is unbelievable. The sheath appears to be quality leather, the blade is well finished, it's comfortable, nice weight, nice size.If you think you want one, buy it. Use it, mess it up, buy a new one.

Not bad at all, but
The bps brand does put out quality blades, love wood handle fixed blades. The 1066 steel is HT very well among my 6 examples. Edge holding is good as a medium high carbon steel should(not fantastic but good for 1066) the handle can be better fitted to blade but is not bad and a little elbow grease, they can be fixed easily. Sheaths are quite good especially at price (much better in past though) price has jumped more then the inflation rate, so it appears popularity is increasing for them thus not the great deal they used to be but good nonetheless. They have great grinds, very consistent. Overall still a very good deal, just NOT the mora killer or the end-all be all many state as they are saying it based on emotions (thanks media) of the political upheaval, and not based on knife alone. Don't get me wrong, they are real good working blades no doubt, good bargain beaters with woodhandles instead of plastic/rubber. I do not think you will be disappointed in any of them overall. Then again I am biased as I have/use edc fixed blades costing 5-6 times and more. Worth a purchase imo.

BPS as a Deer Hunting Knife
I purchased this HK1S (center of image) and the smaller version (BS1FT CSH - at top) in 2022, in part to replace a 60+ year old hunting knife I inherited from my father (at bottom of image). The larger HK1S did a fine job as a knife for field dressing, skinning and butchering. The HK1S cracked the sternum (including prying as needed) with no issues. The smaller BS1FT CSH was fine as a secondary butchering knife. The blades are thicker than my original knife, but this was no barrier to making smaller, precise cuts. The scandi grind held up just fine. I blued the blades as I do not like shiny objects with me in the woods.

Great Entry Level Camping Knife.
BPS knives have become our go to knives for all outdoor activities. They hold a decent edge for most tasks and will still do food prep in the bargain. The handles are easily removed to clean them or under them and this alone is a blessing for both hunters and cooks. This model is carbon steel, so do keep it oiled, we use either olive oil or avocado oil for this. They can take on a patina if you use then a lot around acidic foods or bloody items, but that does not hurt the usefulness of these knives. I remember all my fathers best butcher knives had a patina on them and they still would cut just fine year after year. Some folks like to customize the handle scales on these, and that is made simple by the construction methods used. Nothing fancy, just a good working tool. -- Oh and the sheath's are worth the price of admission on their own; all leather and great retention. Check these out.

I like this knife
This is a very sturdy knife with a thick blade. There would be no problem batoning with it due the beefy full tang construction, although I will probably not use it in that capacity. I essentially got it because I hike alone sometimes in areas of Northern California with Black Bears and Mountain Lions in the area and in fact a Mountain Lion killed a female jogger and fed on her In the area I go hiking in. I believe her name was Barbara Schoener. So carrying bear spray and a knife gives me a sense of security, although it may be a false one. Why don’t I carry a gun-this is California. Anyway this is a quality knife and a good deal for the money. It arrived fairly sharp, but after I touched it up with my hand held Worksharp knife sharpener it was wicked sharp. The fit between the wooden handle and the tang could be a little smoother, but not a big deal for me. At least with my knife the wooden handle, possibly walnut, was lighter than in the photo, so I darkened it with Danish oil. I assume you can put Danish oil on top of Linseed oil, in any case it worked. Overall a very nice knife that I can recommend strongly.

Great knife sheath doesn't fit knife.
My initial evaluation of the knife is that it is quite nice and a great value for the money. However, Mine came with the same sheath that my larger knives from BPS came with. The sheath is nice but it does not fit the knife. It completely swallows the entire knife and the only way to deploy it with a lanyard. If this had a sheath that fit the knife I would rate this a 5 star knife. I will never carry or use this knife because the sheath renders it useless to carry.
