not as good as usual
I've always enjoyed Cathy Kelly's book before but this was not her usual style of writing, more like (and I hate to say this) Danielle Steel!!

Delightful characters
Was sorry to finish this book, as it meant saying goodbye to the three super women, each very different, but likeable and believable and all their trials, joys and tribulations with families and their other halves. A great read, can’t wait to start another Cathy Kelly novel having just discovered her.

This was easy reading and followed the stories of 3 women who met up on holiday and remained friends. Each of the tales of the women was detailed and interesting and interwove with each other very cleverly. They each had their loves and problems and it was easy to identify with them and their families. I especially appreciated the tale of Emma with her link with Alzheimer's which was delicately and sensitively written. Leonie sounded such good fun and a tad rebellious and it took me a while to understand Hannah - but hey! love is blind is it not?I really enjoyed this book and only marked it down to 4 stars because I have read better - not everything can attain 5 stars!I will look out for more by the same author.

A good read
I enjoyed reading this book. I have read others by Cathy Kelly and have found them to peter out at the end. This didn't. There were twists right up to the end. the book follows the romances - or otherwise of three very different women. It was interesting that there was some difference in their ages and, as often with Cathy Kelly included women who are that bit older.Sometimes the tale is a bit unbelievable but perhaps that's because I am not used to living in Ireland - surely there are not still boorish men who bully their children in that way and have children who have moved away but still go back for more. However, overall good romance that is well worth reading without being Booker prize material.

Okay for long days on the beach
I couldn't help thinking as I was reading this that it was written by a late middle-age woman trying to write in a modern, trendy style, so I was very surprised to read the author's profile and find out that she was actually quite young. I found the book/film/celebrity references very dated, even allowing for when the book was written and so too, the descriptions of the characters' clothing. The storyline had a certain charm but was entirely predictable, everyone ended up with who you thought they would end up with and they all lived happily ever after. A light-hearted holiday read for long days on the beach, it certainly won't tax your brain and it's the only book you'll need because it does tend to go on and on and on .........and on

Great story
Written so well it keeps you turning the pages, the characters come alive so much you’re willing them to have a happy ending.

Reads well and skips along.
I downloaded this over a year ago and, having read it, I wonder why I waited so long. It's quite long at over 600 pages but it skips along. Stereotypes abound but it deals with many issues in its pages. No spoilers but I could relate to Emma's mum's decline. I would read more by his author.
