This Cord Is Cool
After not knowing where I stashed my Genesis for the past 6 years I finally found it, crammed in the corner of the basement storage room in the house I'm moving out of. Needless to say I was stoked.I couldn't wait to see all of its 16 bit glory on my new 55" UHD TV. With memories of Sonic the Hedgehog and Road Rash II running through my head I hooked it up and hit the on switch. To my dismay what I got was a picture full of lines and fuzziness. I tried and tried to wiggle and finesse the RF cable to get the picture to clear up but every time I thought I had it and let go of the cable, right back to fuzz. Then I saw the A/V port that had never been used and looked to the internet for a solution. Low and behold they make this cable that fixes all the issues had with the old RF connector. The cable arrived, I plugged it in and now everything looks great, well 16 bit great. So now I can enjoy my Genesis in all its glory on something bigger than the 13" screen I had as a kid.So anyway this cable is great, fixed all the problems I had and I hooked it to a dual audio out cable to get stereo sound. Its sure neat.

Great cord for 1st Generation Sega Genesis Console.
For those who remember what a Sega Genesis 1 (or 1st Generation) is, it was the larger one with the Red or white mark on the dome by the power LED. If you don't have this, you have the one that is all black, with a button in the center and the controller connections on top. this is the Sega Genesis (2nd Generation), and is smaller. If you are still not sure, but have the CD dock, you had to add an extra piece for the Sega Genesis (1st Generation).Since I haven't found my RF adapter, I had to look into a cable. Was going to make it myself, but realize I can't find the parts anymore (not only in my collection, but in stores). For the price, this was great.Have to admit, didn't realize Audio came out this jack as well.. thought it was composite, RGB and ground only..Video quality was fantastic (and quite amazed it still works after all these years). Very highly recommended. BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT BOX.2nd and 3rd generations have a much smaller connector (just as round as a sharpie). this one is the old 5-pin keyboard (or MIDI DIN Style) and is double the size at least.Recommend also getting an 1/8th inch to stereo RCA jacks so you can get the stereo audio these games need.

Works perfectly for a Sega Genesis
Best feature is the length of the cables. It allows me to connect my Genesis to my receiver and stretch out the cables all the way to my couch. Works perfectly to get an old gaming system to work on new tv equipment. Everything works perfectly so there should be no reason to hesitate on this product.

YES, you will see a difference!!
So here was my situation-- Got a big ol' HDTV for Christmas and I've been getting back into video games again. The PS3 is a kicka$$ system, but I've had a bizarro urge to play old school games from the 80s and 90s-- including the Sega Genesis. I hooked the Genesis up to my HDTV using the standard RF box, but it looked like CRAP. Washed out colors, blurry... Who the heck wants to see that on the big screen?? So after coming across this cable, I figured it was worth a shot. So, was it?Yup. Now keep in mind that even with this cable, the Genesis still puts out standard resolution, not 720 or 1080. So nobody is going to see you playing Shinobi and say "hey, is this the PS3?" But the image will look a lot better than it does with the RF cable. The main difference is that the colors are more refined. I tested it out using the Spiderman game. While your character is standing still, with the RF box, you see what looks like a red halo around the arms, feet and head. With this cable, the halo is gone. All of the red stays within the lines as they are supposed to. And small lettering is alot easier to read. I saw an even greater difference when playing games on the Sega CD. Yeah, must of those games still suck, but at least they look alot better.Truth be told though, in the end, I hooked my Genesis back up to my old Philips 27" CRT instead of the HDTV. The difference is alot more striking when using this cable on a standard TV. I only keep that TV around for playing old school games, and this cable makes my Genesis look crisp and clear on that TV. One thing I just noticed-- this cable also works on the Sega Master System-- the A/V port in the back is the same as the Genesis. So if you want to make your Genesis look as good as it was made to, buy this cable.

The truth is...
When I tried to hook up my Genesis through the Coax Cable the picture looked terrible. I've gotten so used to todays graphics and I just could not get used to it.So I bought this cable in hopes of a decent clear picture. I was BLOWN AWAY with the results. This cable made everything look great. The color was strong, the picture was clear, and the graphics look wonderful. The Sega was really a good system.Note, there is only one audio cable (red audio). You will have to buy another cable to turn the red audio cable into a white and red. It won't be surround sound but you will get sound out of each side of your speakers. Also this cable is for the first model of Genesis.
