Perfect Sleeve for New Dell XPS 17 9700 Rather Than Dell-branded Sleeve
I looked for several hours to find a sleeve-type case with handles that didn't have a reputation in reviews for breaking, didn't put the entire weight of the laptop inside on the zipper while carrying it, thus allowing it to strain the zipper, possibly allowing it to break through to the floor. Reviewers complained about this on many case reviews. I was very careful to use the dimension specs on the XPS 17 9700 to compare them to the internal dimensions of all the cases out there that might my expectations of keeping my laptop safe from drops, ease of packing it into the case, handles that wouldn't break from the substantial weight of this relatively heavy laptop, and handles that wouldn't devolve into thin straps (cutting into my hand) that would make it undesirable to carry for anything but a very short distance. I also preferred two hand straps, so that if one broke the odds of the other breaking at the same time would keep from letting my laptop from falling to the floor. Note: Nearly all 17" cases have internal dimensions that will leave the XPS 17 with several inches slack at the top and about the same on the sides. They are all bulky with a sloppy-floppy fit. Don't purchase a 17" sleeve for the XPS 17 9700. You will regret it.I found a great-fitting very slim case: URBAN ARMOR GEAR UAG Large Sleeve with Carrying Handle for 15" Devices Black Rugged Tactile Grip Weatherproof Protective Slim Secure Laptop/Tablet Sleeve.Yes, it's for a 15" laptop, and it fits the Dell XPS 17 9700 perfectly.Pros:1. It's a clamshell type case with no zippers to blowout opposite the handles2. The zipper is a wide-tooth heavy duty plastic type found on quality sportswear, with significant padding between the zipper and laptop on all edges3. There is a handle on each side of the clamshell, each with its own attachment to the case that is tough black nylon and looks like they won't tear out where they are stitched.4. The handles are reinforced with a comfortable rubber-like material inside the nylon tube of the straps allowing the weight of the laptop to be better distributed over more surface area in your hand.5. The inside in all areas is soft and won't scratch the laptop.6. It has a full-size internal mesh storage sleeve that allow for seeing items inside it - not the place to store your laptop, but maybe a flat mouse, papers, etc. The power supply could be placed there, but it would make the bag bulge and put pressure on the laptop. You could probably place a thin foam sheet in there to further protect your laptop from the charger. I haven't tried that.7. This laptop sleeve has strong, flexible corner see-through internal straps mounted at 45 degrees in all 4 corners that keep the laptop from moving around and allow you to use the laptop without removing it from the sleeve. At any angle of use, the laptop will remain attached to the sleeve in the corners. The straps on the screen portion are clear and don't block viewing of the screen. The top screen straps cover 1 3/4" horizontal and 2 1/8" vertical in the corners. You will be able to use a mouse in this area but not the touch-screen function, which is wholly acceptable to me, as I don't usually use this real estate for touch-screen purposes. The bottom mounted corner straps are thick translucent silicone triangle that cover 3" vertical and 3" horizontal. They are mounted far away from the track pad. You don't have to use the internal corner straps, but I read many reviews where students found this desirable, as they wouldn't have to take their laptop out of a sleeve and store it until they moved to another location. Just unzip the sleeve, use the laptop, and closing it causes the screen to slide up further into the screen straps for a tighter fit when closing and zipping the case up.8. The case is not flimsy and has good rigidity to it, and yet it is still flexible. It's also much less slippery to hold.Cons: NONEDimensions with Dell XPS 17 9700 inside and closed: 1 ¼” by 16 3/8” by 11 3/8”. It fits in my TravelPro backpack.I ordered this 15" OAG case for $60 at Amazon on 9/4/2020 with arrival on 9/14/2020. OAG did not have them available on their site at the time. I can't recommend it enough for those of you who have purchased the Dell branded sleeve with the same complaints that I had with it. Dell accepted my return of their sleeve through their returns authorization process, although it took me 45 minutes on hold and another 18 minutes with a Dell support rep in India who spoke excellent understandable English. The next day Federal Express came to pick it up with their own label. I only had to put it into the original box and place the RA# on the outside of the package to get a full credit for it.Here is the review I wrote for the Dell-branded sleeve it replaced:No Edge Protection, Too Tight Fit and Weak Magnetic Clasp Doesn't CatchIf you want a really tight sleeve that you have to literally turn upside down to shake out your expensive new Dell XPS 17 9700 to remove it, then this is your sleeve. That is if you don't mind that the magnetic clasp for closing it is both weak and doesn't match up with the corresponding metal under the material where it is hidden from view. Except for protecting the laptop from scratches, it offers virtually zero protection from a drop of even a foot to a hard surface. There is about 1mm of material around all the edges of this too-tight-fitting sleeve and any surface for which it comes into contact. There is somewhat more material protecting the back and front of the laptop, but not much. Most damage would come from a drop to an edge of the computer. It has no handles (yes, I know it's a sleeve) and is slick on the outside begging for it to slip out of your hand to the floor. I believe the design and fit of this Dell-branded sleeve to be completely defective. It is not a viable product.Check out the photos for the OAG with the Dell XPS 17 9700 in it…

Doesn't fit 14 in.... L
They sell a 13 in and this 15in... If you have larger than 14in they tell you this one works...They are 100% wrongTheir 13 fits the prior model Lenovo flex 13in perfectly. If you have upgraded to a 14 in like the Lenovo flex 5g this version is useless... The computer is loose in it and not at all secure and when you close it and carry it the computer comes out of the tabs that hold it for when it's opened back up...It's nothing more than an overpriced tablet sleeve with a 14in even tho it was the one suggested since they dont make anything between the 13 and 15They need to have one for the 14 in machines. And stop suggesting this fits

If you add a charger to the pocket, makes it very big bulge and bulky

Good but can be better.
The quality of the case was nice. The zipper has a nice sturdy feel to it. Unfortunately I don’t like how there is no padding on the inside to protect a laptop. I ordered a couple more to try. They are cheaper and have a nice soft liner for protection.

I trust this product.
This product is solid. My 7 yr old son is using with the $1200 Loptop in it. You do the math.

Keeps things organized and protected.
Amazing sleeve. Strong and slim, but still big enough to store a few files and a couple cables. Doubles as a mat to keep your legs from warming up during use.

Solid sturdy product
Great she’ll case. Super firm, solid zipper which seems like it will hold up for quite a while

Internal dimensions: 38 x 26 cm, fits Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 2 quite perfect.
Best protective laptop sleeve I have tried since the Booq Viper.Corner protection is very clever, keeps laptop corners in place with the 4 corner holders. So it doesnt move around inside sleeve. Also the 4 corner holders works, soyou can work on the laptop with sleeve on the whole time, keeping it more protected.Seems like the protective concept of the Thule Gauntlet, with more clever design.I read a review with a XPS 17 fitted into this, before buying it.They could probably sell a lot more of these, if they informed customers of internal dimensions.

UAG Carry case 15"
Does everything it says on the box, if you do have a 15" laptop/device and have various other accesories then I would recommend going a size up from what your laptop is. But like I said fantastic product and no issues!

Awesome case!
Get compliments all the time. I’ve had mine for 20-months now & has held up super well with daily abuse. Only thing… I put in a piece of hard material on the screen side for more impact resistance as it’s not great that way. But I knew what In was buying & with that small tweak am stoked.

Calidad precio 10/10.
