I felt that the passages were leveled well and I liked that the passages are paired, which is what students typically see in state standardized testing. I do think some of the questions got repetitive from passage to passage. I also wish the short answer brought in more compare/contrast between the two passages. Overall, a great resource. Review: Great homework book - Bought for my child as a homework book for home. A couple of pages a week is helpful. Will buy the next grade up when the time is right.

Good start to analogies
This is a good workbook to introduce analogies to children who are unfamiliar with them. We are preparing for the SSAT Elementary Level and my daughter had never done analogies before. There are plenty of practice problems and the text is easy to read. My only complaint is that the sections are very homogenous so once the kid gets the relationship they are drilling on that page, they don't have to think very hard. We did about 1/4 of this book until she understood analogies and then moved on to a more generic SSAT prep book for analogies by Test Masters. I think teachers may like this for classroom work or homework, too.

highly recommended
Very nice workbook for introducing elementary age children to the concept of analogies. It is pretty easy and fun for kids. I feel it is good exercise for the brain and useful for developing thinking skills. My son completed this book and will be working in the grade 4 book soon. Highly recommended.

Excellent for higher thinking and study skills
I am very pleased with this whole line of workbooks for higher thinking. We use them each year as part of our college preparatory curriculum within our homeschool and will continue to do so.

Great little workbook
I bought this to supplement my homeschooler's critical thinking and to give her something that is a bit different from normal academics of reading, writing and math.

It is such a good book. It is fun and we look forward ...
Writing on behalf of my daughter who loves working on it. It is such a good book. It is fun and we look forward to work on it as a family. She also says it is a very enjoyable learning experience. She very much recommends this book for kids her age. She is nine years old.

Great for Common Core
This book allows children to read stories that are fiction and nonfiction that share a common theme. The comprehension questions include multiple choice, sequencing, short answer, and open ended questions. My students and I have enjoyed the stories.
