Large Art Nouveau Swirl Hair Clip, Hand Cast Metal Barrette Made in the USA with an 80mm Clip by Oberon Design, 1 Piece

This is, bar none, the best and prettiest barrette I've ever owned. I have very thick medium-length hair that I like to wear up most of the time, but I have always had a lot of trouble finding any kind of clip or barrette that will hold it all. (In high school I used to take the tension bars out of my barrettes to get the to close at all.) Claws usually will hold it but then I've got this big hunk of plastic sticking out of the back of my head, getting in the way when I'm in the car or trying to relax on the couch. So I'd rather wear a barrette. The first Oberon barrette I tried wasn't big enough, but that was my own fault. The listing clearly described it as "medium" but I was too excited by how pretty it was to realize that it wouldn't work for me. That one went back and I found this one instead, which I'm wearing right now. The design is lovely. It looks like jewelry in my hair, so much better than the functional-but-blah tortoise-shell plastic clips that are the only other things I've found that work. It would work beautifully for a dressy occasion, but at the same time it's simple enough for every day -- and why not wear something pretty every day?This is the first day I've owned it so I can't say for sure how long it will last, but it feels very sturdy, strong and secure. And the main thing is that it's extremely comfortable. There's no pulling, no weight, no tight feeling. I hardly know it's there, yet my hair has stayed securely and gracefully in place since I put it up much earlier today. Maybe I've never had a barrette that actually fit before? Anyway, I guess you can tell I'm excited about this barrette. Yes, it's a little pricey but you're paying for quality and function. If your hair is too thick for ordinary hair accessories, it's worth the price. I will be buying more.

You can feel the quality with this barrette. It has a good weight and feel. It looks elegant but also great for dressing down. It sits fairly close to the head and is comfortable. I think the size is good for a partial pull back.

When I ordered this barette from Oberon, I didn’t make the connection with Oberon Design where I had purchased embossed leather journal covers many years ago; beautiful, artistic, enduring products that I’m still using all these years later. The barette is all that and I’m looking forward to years of use. I’m glad to see that Oberon is now on Amazon with the same quality products I’ve trusted in the past.

Unique and well-made

I bought this clip for both work and for a costume I'm working on. It is exactly as described, works, and came with some sweet surprises. For the costume I'll be wearing a wig, but my natural hair is very thick and heavy. I tried the clip with varying chunks of my hair in different styles, and it held them all (which is extremely rare, my hair usually breaks clips right away). It only slipped a little bit, but it still held. It is very pretty in person and when it is in your hair. It isn't very heavy either, so I think it could be used by people with all hair types.

The clip is exactly as described and beautifully crafted. I'm going to get another design for my sister. The clips are a little pricey, yes, but sturdy and made in the USA. My hair is thick and fine, and it's not quite long enough to wear the clip all day. Even so, it held the fine ends of my hair while I wore it around the house. In another month or so, I'll enjoy wearing it regularly!

The barrette is beautiful and very well made - holds great! The seller included a lovely, personal note and it comes in a little gift box...I highly recommend it.

J'ai voulu investir dans un produit de qualité et je ne suis pas déçue. Mes cheveux sont longs et assez épais et souvent les barrettes tirent, voire s'ouvrent. Ici, ce n'est pas le cas. J'aime bcp son aspect art nouveau. Je recommande vivement!
