A way of life
I spent many years looking into Chivalry. It seems in this day and age, it has largely been regulated to role-play or festivals. While searching the Internet one day, I came across a website called Chivalry-Now. I looked into the articles, and it felt like I had finally found a real approach to Chivalry. The more I read the more I grew excited. Here were people who were seeking a quest to better themselves. They approached it with reason, intellect, and honor.I was delighted to find that the founder of the site had written two books. I picked them up and began to read. To say that these books changed my life is an understatement. It was a call to be answered. Since reading these books, I have bettered myself as a man, husband, father, and community leader. I highly encourage others to take the time and read this book. Cheers and best wishes to those that choose to take up the quest.

Chivalry "Now"
From his years as a Social Worker Mr. Jacques noticed an alarming trend, a lack of Ethics, specifically Male ethics. This lack of ethics, a lack of Chivalry, has left a void on what it means to be a man. Chivalry Now presents a way to fill this void. Chivalry is not about opening doors, walking on the curbside and standing when a woman enters a room. That is just common courtesy. Courtesy IS a part of Chivalry. However, True Chivalry has deeper roots that reach down into the depths of every man, woman and child. As stated in Chivalry Now its an innate part of our existence. We have only forgotten it. Chivalry Now offers a road map for returning to that forgotten place. The Twelve Trusts are sign posts for the Reader to use on his/her personal Quest. Using Medieval Chivalry as a model and drawing from the Arthur Legends to provide object lessons on positive male ethics, Mr. Jacques has succeeded in bringing forth a New Chivalry relevant to our Modern Times. Chivalry Now advocates free thinking as Knight-Errands following a new code of chivalry. Chivalry Now should not be read quickly and placed aside, It should be read slowly contemplating each chapter and Trust and how it relates to your own personal Quest.

Breathing New Life into an Old Code
This book, is one that if the concepts are lived out in our daily lives, could change many of society's ills. Imagine a world where people actually live by values that are virtuous! Dean Jacques starts us on the road toward discovering an old code that, when one brushes the dust off, is still viable and needed in today's world. A great job of summarizing many extant books on chivalry along with some new concepts. Nicely Done.

I'm sorry I couldn't make it through it.
When I first started reading I was really excited and the author opened my mind and really gave me something to think about. But then every chapter started covering something about the evil corporations, global warming, and those lying religous nuts.

What it says in the title
A book well worth reading, but be sure you read it all the way through. For me, given that English is my second language, some words and phrases were a bit difficult to understand. The meaning however is crystal clear.

Fantastic book
I would recommend this book to any man who has been looking to make sense of what chivalry is and how to live it. Wish I would of read this when I was much younger since none of the other guys in my life could explain this.

Worth striving for
Although it's hard in todays world to live 100% by these ethics, if you strive to live by them as much as possible you'll be a 100% better person. Highly recommend this for teenagers and twenty-somethings, it can teach them something you wouldn't figure out otherwise until you're in your forties.

"I never knew how empty was my life, until it was filled."
It is written that King Arthur spoke those words, after miraculously recovering from a fatal wound, but it can be seen as a metaphor for his maturing as a man.Chivalry Now sets out 12 chivalric values that are so rarely witnessed and experienced these days. The absence of these values, according to the author, have not only made the world a less harmonious and safe place, but also disinherited men of their noble masculinity and sense of higher purpose in life.Jacques carefully combines insights from his personal and professional life with non-denominational, spiritual philosophy into a system of self-observation and dealing with life's challenges. This he defines as each man's Quest; the personal journey, against all odds, to do the right thing, for the right reasons and be all a man can and should be.The book would make an affirming and respectful gift from a woman to the man in her life, or even act as a thought-provoker for the father who, like myself, would like to promote goodness and strength of character in his young sons, rather than let popular culture and nihilism do the work for him.If the concept is for you, reading the book may just be the start of the search for something you never knew was missing...

Recommended!
Excellent book. Has a slightly 'cult' feel to it, but if you look past that, the underlying message is certainly valid and worthwhile. Also, quite well written, not at all 'preach-ey'. Recommend to any man feeling slightly lost in this post-feminist world, as well as to any boy wondering what his place in the society is.

Experience a new, very conceivable, very meaningful, 'once and future' world in Chivalry Now
The IDEA of this book is so ravishing, so compelling and such a total cure for what ails us, I don't think I should say anything other than buy it, read it, digest it. it's an extremely resonant book. Dean Jacques is a brilliant man who hit on a grand idea. Sometimes I thought he didn't leave enough room for the imagination, for the reader to digest and draw conclusions on his/her own, which lends a sense that he underestimates our intelligence. 'Show don't tell' is not his strong suit! Understandable - he was a social worker for many years where very direct guidance and information was necessary. Sometimes the emphasis on knighthood feels a bit - I don't know, maybe childlike. But any criticism is blown away by the absolutely compelling nature of the idea, the importance of the book. I highly recommend it. If all men took the notion of chivalry (I wish there was a better word) to heart, it would be an extremely different, and orders of magnitude better world. He hammers this point home because he so strongly, and rightfully, believes it. Just read it and get a glimpse at very conceivable, meaningful way of being. You will be grateful.
