Good brief intro or skill "brush up"
Well produced and well thought out, and fun to watch, but moves along waaaay too fast to really impart mastery of any of the topics taught. I pretty much have to agree with the guy who gave the DVDs 3-stars saying it was more like watching a reality TV show of a shooting class than watching instructional DVDs.Pick any topic. Lets say, trigger control. They cover it... They tell you to prep the trigger (though not using those words) by holding the trigger just before the point the round is released. They say this briefly, when talking about follow through. They do not discuss DA/SA vs stiker fired issues. They do to talk about prepping the trigger during push-out (step 3 in their system) of drawing and presenting the weapon. If you already KNOW a lot about trigger control, you know what they're talking about. If you don't, they sure don't teach it.Watch them, though... Their technique is freakin flawless. They make a great deal about overcoming institutional inertia, but they sure have some of their own... such as their INSANE focus on precisely which part of your finger presses precisely which part of the trigger. That stuff has LONG been discredited in practical shooting, but I guess we all have our opinions.Look: it's a fun set of DVDs. Watching Haley and Costa's movement and technique is awe-inspiring. They move like machines. Listening to Haley talk about the combat mindset, and various things you can do for "value added" is interesting and cool. If you're familiar with the techniques they teach, it'll serve as a good reference and maybe even a tune up. Heck, it reminded me that I've gotten sloppy with my support hand and I need to rotate it further forward so my thumb is parallel with the bore. Cool! But if you're seriously trying to LEARN how to be a better shooter, or you're trying to learn how to manipulate a pistol for the first time, this is NO place to start. It's definitely not intended to be an introductory class. There is better and more detailed introductory instruction available for free on you tube.

Exactly what I was looking for
I am really impressed with this video. It is exactly what I was looking for in a training video on handguns. Frankly I do not have time to spend hours at the range learning. My family obligations prohibit spending a week (or even a day) on the range but I feel pretty strongly that being trained and effective is very important. With this video I am able to get an hour here and there. I was able to watch and learn so much and now I can begin implementing what I learned at the range when I get a chance to go. I can also do many of the drills at home or in my backyard without ever firing a shot. In addition, I can also show the video to my wife on her time because she is not likely to ever go to the range without me and taking the family at this point isn't realistic. It's is not super-hardcore commando. It's not all about specific situations although they certainly come up. It is focused on the fundamentals and solid fundamentals can be applied to any situation. I felt it has a pretty balanced attitude whether you are in the marines, a police officer or head of household security. I am learning how to use my gun effectively whether or not I'm in Afghanistan or my bedroom. The fundamentals are the same and that is what they are teaching.I haven't got to the concealed DVD yet but based on the first DVD it will be exactly what I need to know when I get there. I have a long way to go but now I have skills to work on.The bottom line is the instruction is great and learning at my own pace makes this video exactly what I was looking.

Informative, Entertaining, and Extremely Well Produced
This 4 DVD set is simply awesome. I would classify myself as a beginner to intermediate level shooter, and I found these DVDs to be very informative and highly entertaining. On top of all the great training content contained in the DVDs I would like to stress that the overall production value is extremely high as well, unlike most instructional DVDs you find. If you own or have watched any of Magpul's other training DVDs, you will not be let down. Personally I think this set is even better than the Tactical Carbine DVD set. The camera work, editing, and sound production is top-notch.The instructors featured in the DVDs, Travis Haley and Chris Costa, present the material in a clear and concise manner, and they break down all the drills, scenarios, and situations in way that is easy for a shooter at any level to digest. I really appreciated their focus on safety, efficiency, and consistency of movement. What I liked most about the DVDs is the diversity in the group of students that Travis and Chris are instructing. The group is comprised of various law enforcement officers, military personnel, firearms industry sales representatives, as well as civilians. The students in each of these categories obviously had differently levels of skill and experience as well as different types of handguns and equipment. It was really interesting to see how the different types of people worked through their specific problems and stumbling points.Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and will most likely pickup some of Magpul's other training DVD offerings.

Great buy ! I recommend to anyone who want to perfect handgun skills
Since I'm from Canada and civilians can't carry, I found the dvds still very usefully. I bought this to get some tricks and techniques for IPSC and there was plenty. I do get better grouping and now able to double tap.
