Sharp, Light, Portable with a Handle, Has a Slight Tray-Shaped Plastic to Hold Cut Pieces and Inexpensive
I mainly used this guillotine to cut laminated photos. The laminates cut smoothly as long as you hold the lamination tightly in place against the board. I bring the slicer down quickly and it slices the laminate with no pull unless I don't hold the laminate down. This cutter is not meant to cut multiple sheets. To cut something smoothly, you can really only put one sheet of anything in at a time. It has a plastic ruler next to the slicer that helps to keep the paper from flapping when cutting. The board has straight cross lines to help you see when something is straight or not by its alignment to the lines. The slicer is smooth and when it comes down there is a piece of plastic/tray that sticks out under the slicer to help hold the sliced paper so that you can clean up the cut pieces easily. I feel very safe with this cutter and it has everything that a regular cutter has such as the measuring board, cross alignments on the board, a handle to bring the knife up and down, a plastic ruler/guide along the edge to help hold the paper down (not tightly, but to prevent flapping), a sharp knife and smooth movement. The advantage of this board is that it's light, portable with a handle, has a slight tray-shaped plastic that sticks out to hold cut pieces and inexpensive. It can cut up to the length of a regular sized office/typing paper.

Great for Small Things, Not A2 Sized Card Bases
First what I like about the Tonic trimmer:•It cuts very well•It's light weight•It's extremely accurate•You can get a very sheer cutWhat I dislike:•It only has markings up to 4.75". This makes it difficult to cut an 8.5" x 11" paper @ 5.5" to make an A2 sized card as you can't cut the paper at @ 4.25" because the trimmer won't fit an 11" sheet of paperOverall I would recommend this as a sort of "bonus" trimmer but not as a primary paper trimmer for card makers.

Nice, very nice and here's why:
It's light duty for on the go crafters.Great for adults to teach mature responsible children about safety and the dangers of such a product, but they still should only be allowed to use it while being monitored by a guillotine product knowledgeable adult so the kids too can become crafters, safely. It's also a great way to bond, and showing them you approve of their developing responsible behavior as you pass down your crafting skills to them.I own a few professional guillotine trimmers, but when it comes to low cost, respectable accuracy with square cuts, portability, and being light weight--you really don't need to look any further because it's that we'll made for its class. It's hard to imagine why a crafter could not put this small trimmer to smart and handy use. Buy it and enjoy it just as it was designed to do. You'll get your low cost investment out of it long before you'll need to replace it as it's most definitely a crafter's little buddy for light duty jobs...I almost forgot to mention, and before you open your purchase, don't forget to plan to use the heavy gauge plastic clam shell container that your trimmer comes in because it makes a great suitcase to store the trimmer and carry it around. Here's how to do it: Carefully cut the crimp marks off on three sides, and that's the top (where the carrying handle is), and then both of the longer L & R sides, but DON'T cut off the bottom crimps because that area becomes the hinge to make the suitcase, and now you can remove and return your trimmer to the suitcase as needed. You can tape or get a couple large 7" rubber bands to make sure the suitcase stays closed due to the blade. I believe, though, a bungee cord holds up much better.

Worst quality and useless item.
Unless you have a need to cut something without even a shred of accuracy - like coupons, it's really useless. I'm a card maker and the paper - any size, any weight, even when you are tying to hold it steady will buckle with the down arm and cause uneven cut - everything goes off on an angle. The width is only 4.75 and there are no markings less than 1/4" and that is just grid without color. No way can you cut paper for an A2 card or layer in this cutter. Seriously, not for crafters. Don't make the same mistake I did. I'm going to try and return it, but did throw out the packaging because I was so excited to get my first guillotine.

small and sharp
Terrific small cutter--sharp, clean cuts--will cut ultra narrow slivers. Very pleased with product.

This thing is awesome! I make cards out of recycled cereal boxes
This thing is awesome! I make cards out of recycled cereal boxes, and this cuts right through the thick cardstock texture and makes even, straight cuts. I did end up taking the plastic safety piece out though. I found that using it made the cardstock slip around during cutting and made everything look uneven. Holding it in place myself (as long as I'm really careful to keep my fingers away from the blade!) works perfectly. I do think that I will either need to replace or sharpen the blade eventually though. It's not made of the highest quality metal and I've noticed a bit of dulling after using it for several months. But for the price and for the purpose I'm using it for, this guillotine is perfect.
