Love this stuff
I was introduced to steel cut oats by a friend - what a revelation! I've always liked regular rolled oatmeal, but not enough to keep it around. It seemed like a lot of trouble to make for breakfast. Since I grew up with the regular kind, the quick-cooking seemed to have a weird texture, and don't get me started on instant oatmeal. Weird texture with oat dust added. This stuff is great. Not easier to cook (see below for my fix), but it's worth it. It has all the flavor of regular oatmeal (if that makes you laugh, I get it). So it has a mild flavor with a chewy texture, that is sooo satisfying to eat that I've started using it in place of rice. (Best ever leftover: Thai green curry sauce over leftover Irish oatmeal.)Here's my lazy girl's recipe. It similar to the one on the can, but easier. This works best with full size recipe. Put 4 cups of water and 1 cup of oats (1 teaspoon salt, optional) in a pan, cover and bring to a boil. Remove the lid and adjust heat to a low boil. Boil 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally so that it doesn't boil over. Put the lid back on and turn off the stove. Leave the pot on the stove overnight (don't freak--it's sterile). In the morning, it's completely cooked. Just reheat in the pot or microwave, or eat it cold. And the can! Can't forget the beautiful, real-deal canister. I'm using it for my sprout seeds, and when I use up all 6 cans, I'll find something else to do with them. They are too pretty to recyle.

🇮🇪☘️ Irish Oats, McCann’s
Winner 👍🏻It’s a good idea to use 1/2 apple juice like Martinelli’s and 1/2 water. 1 cup Irish oats to 4 cups liquid. Bring to a boil. Take off the heat. Cool on the counter. Refrigerate overnight. Perfect steel cut Irish Oats in the morning. I add cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, all-spice, small amount of brown sugar, minced pecans. Divide up in individual serving portions, freeze. Pull out a container for a fast healthy breakfast. You’ll never go back to ‘regular’ oatmeal. No comparison. Steel Cut Irish oats are delicious and they sustain you well until lunch.2nd only to protein rich breakfast like eggs, sausage, bacon for sustaining you until lunch time.McCann’s Steel Cut Irish ☘️ 🇮🇪 Oats in the tin 👍🏻The best in all the land 😊

The original unprocessed form--the best- Very satisfying
Liked its full body texture but takes longer to prepare than quick versions. Worth it for flavor and texture.

Irish oatmeal with Irish coffee every morning gets me going every morning
This stuff is so terrible but is so good for you that you just have to eat it.I am joking. It really is good and it goes great with protein vanilla protein drin, not Irish Coffee, as a substitute for milk.

Delicious and Non-GMO.
Well worth the half hour it takes to become a delicious porridge! I use almond milk, a dollop of butter and maple syrup. Yum!
