A thoughtful book to really read improvisation
This is an amazing book. It gives the aspiring improvisor every fundamental tools to reach the goal. It is packed with thoughtful exercises the author arranges that build on these "fundies." The book takes no shortcuts and will take a long time to work through developing improvisations in genres from classical, pop, funk, jazz, you name it. Along the way, the student improvisor will attain a wealth of piano technique based on chords, this inversions, carpet good based on scales and inversions of the scale notes. The book's comprehensiveness will make a better piano player in general. A work of art in the medium of piano instruction. The author is to be applause for putting so much valuable effort in conceiving this well-planned, and visually clear book.

This is a decent book on Piano Improvisation.
This is a good book on piano improvisation. I'm more interested in playing music through chords and I find a lot of useful information presented in this book in a logical way.

If you can play piano, this book will have you improvising in no time,
I've read a bunch of books and watched tons of videos on how to improvise. This book is the first description that I could easily understand. And it worked. I am doing it, in spades.I am an intermediate pianist. I know all the chords, all the inversions, and the major and minor scales. If you don't know these, this book will show you what they are, but, honestly, it's going to take a long, long time to master this stuff. And I don't think there's any point in trying to improvise until you have that foundation. If you are a decent pianist with some music theory (and the ability to read music) and you are stuck playing the notes that are written, this book is going to take you to new places. There are sections on improvising for various genres (blues, jazz, classical, etc). But the basic idea very simple. You will be able to learn improving from this book.Ok, this is just an opinion that has nothing to do with the book: when musicians, particularly jazz musicians, improvise to the point where the original melody is nowhere to be heard, I dislike the result. I prefer to call what I do now embellishment. There is no way I could ad hoc come up with a listenable melody, when songwriters labor painstakingly to come up with good songs, 99 out of 100 of which don't get heard

Great Book-a Music Education
This book travels through every type of music. All aspects are clearly shown with examples of how an improvised piece would be constructed. A keeper and great reference for any keyboardist.
