Excellent insights into August Wilson's works
The introductory material provides an overview and the following essays address one play at a time. The fact that the book was written in the UK, with an outsider perspective made it particularly interesting and enlightening to someone steeped for a lifetime in the US culture.

Companion Indeed
The Cambridge Companion to August Wilson has proved a valuable tool for teaching college students. It is quite thorough in its discussion of all of Wilson's plays; it gives new angles from which to approach the plays themselves. I particularly like the combination of summary and analysis.

Brits get it right
This is a well written account of Wilson's early life and development. The book is a must for all who wish to explore a balanced view of the man and his work.
