A beautiful biography from a great man of God.
Very few books hit as hard as this one when it comes to conviction of sin and hope in God and His Grace.Written in a simple language by a simple man. But one chosen by God to move the minds and hearts of people towards their Creator.I recommend this book to everyone that looks to understand the beauty and to savour the grace of God towards sinners redeemed by grace alone.

Perfect End to the Series
I love to read conversion stories, especially ones where God's nature is on full display. This is a fitting end to the "series".

Wow, I was astounded....
...at all the struggles and spiritual trials this author/preacher went through in his life!! It gives one hope that if he, even he, a preacher of God, went through all these things and his faith survived, that we can also have hope as we go through our trials and doubts in life. Great book. Recommended reading.

great read
Loved the book. Easy to read, written in modern English, easy to understand. Bunyan’s words still ring true for Christians today.

Good but not great
A good story of Bunyan's faith walk. He struggled tremendously for a long time and continued to seek God. This did not draw me in like Pilgrim's Progress but it is a good read. It's a lot harder than Pilgrim's story and seems to focus on the struggle more than the victory we have in Jesus Christ.

Beautiful Insight into the Mind of a Believer
This book aims to encourage christians. To stir the hearts or none-believers as well. That we could question our own faith, our own walk with God and our eternal future. This autobiography of Bunyan's mind allows for the reader to see the spiritual afflictions and the way God confirms through his word and allows for a way to focus on Him. Read this if you struggle with doubts of your salvation, skepticism, double mindedness. Know you are not alone.

Be Blessed.
I aim to read everything by Bunyan. Pilgrims Progress and The Holy War is a common read for homeschooling christian families. Grace Abounding is best for adult reading aligning our reverence and awe to the abounding grace through faith in Christ. This is a worthy, hearty read.

One soul's spiritual battle
John Bunyan is known best for his writing Pilgrim's Progress. It tells of the Christian 's journey through life and the many spiritual battles to be faced. He could speak with authority as he experience hard trials of his own, such as confinement n prison for 12 years for preaching. He searched God's word for the assurance that God would save even him because of Christ.

Grace abundant for all.
He endured much for his faith. He loved the 'least' and did what he could to share the Saviour's love with them. He suffered much, and his final ministry mission sums up the story of his commitment to His calling. The story of a life changed by an encounter with the Saviour.

Not the original version.
The book is excellent, great quality and they have provided a comprehensive and exhaustive biography of Bunyan's.The product by itself is excellent. But the language and the version is different than what Bunyan wrote in. It has been simplified for the better understanding. But, it's original version is beautiful and amazing to see how well Bunyan wrote.I initially started reading an online copy of the book, since I loved the book and prefer hard copies, ordered this book, but I was a little disappointed to find that it was not the same version. If possible, read this book in it's original version, because it's an absolutely beautiful piece of literature.

Much to learn about conversion and how to wield God's truth against the devil's darts
After Augustine’s Confession, this is another honest account of the internal spiritual warfare that rages in believers. It is pointed out somewhere in this edition that the experience of Bunyan is not common to all believers; not everyone necessarily goes through such turbulent and violent ups and downs as Bunyan in his faith journey.Like Confession, I really value the honesty of past saints to bare it all for posterity. At church today, we seldom hear teaching of this sort, let alone being prepared for our internal war. We have a very superficial understanding of sins. Today we are more concerned about upsetting the fragile mental state of people than proclaiming the truth that will strengthen our minds and souls. We are ill equipped for the battles that Bunyan went through in his own conversion. At the time of writing this review, a conversion therapy ban is going through the legislation procedure. The proposals apply to the LGBT+ excluding transgenders and cover talking conversion therapy. Potentially it can outlaw church teaching on the subject. It is argued that conversion therapy can be extremely damaging, causing mental health issues. If this is the foundational argument of the ban, then should Christian conversion be banned too as it could be agonizing and tormenting to the soul too? The heart-rending account of Bunyan is a proof and it affected him on and off for years. This is a big event in our life – do we expect the transformation from our old self to new self is painless? No, Jesus says, Take up the cross and follow me. What is our cross? Not everyone will face persecution for His name, but all of us would have to fight our sins and confront our sinful nature. No one can escape this path of self-denial. And Bunyan lays his painful journey bare for our benefits.Nowadays, most people expect church to make them feel good and not bad about themselves. We have a fluffy understanding of our sins so I suspect many of us sleep with our enemies in much cosiness. People who are struggling do not know how to and pastoral care is more of the kind of moral support. How did Bunyan get through his spiritual trials? He wrestled with God’s Word, which indeed is a double-edge sword. It convicts causing the disturbance and it comforts who soothes and offers hope and assurance in the end. We emerge through this repeated cycle stronger each time. This is how God builds us up and gives us experiential knowledge of the power of the gospel.Church leaders or evangelists today are more worried than not about upsetting people and no one would come. I say, don’t leave people in a false sense of security which is dangerous to their souls. We do not go out of our way to deliberately upset people but stay faithful to the truth, the whole counsel of God as opposed to the selected version, which will surely confront in the Spirit’s good timing. I personally believe that the Bible is sufficient for us in all our battles. Bunyan demonstrates brilliantly how this is done. If we want to see what the honest heart in seeking God , what that holy fear looks like, then this personal account of Bunyan is a fine example. You will learn much truth of faith in that and the useful skill of wielding God’s Word against the devil’s darts.

blessed assurance Jesus is mine 🙏
I found some comfort in reading that such a dedicated servant of God and Jesus Christ struggled, as I so oft times do too. I felt reassured that Jesus is our merciful God and saviour. I would recommend this book to every Christian who feels he isn’t accepted by God. Assuredly they are. God bless anyone who reads this honest account of a faithful man.

Spiritual eye opener
I read the book after reading Pilgrim's progress and Holy War by the author. Both the books hold a special place in my heart. 'Grace abounding to chief of sinners ' name came up as a suggestion in some of preachings that I listened to. The autobiography of John Bunyan strikes a cord with my life and so far my spiritual journey. It serves as an eye opener regarding struggles that a Christian has to undergo and the encouragement for picking up the cross and walking the walk. I was moved by reading the book as I read the book like a child would rather than diving into the doctrinal aspects of Mr Bunyan's faith. Mr Bunyan mentions in the book that, discussing regarding traditions in church and dogmas only brings about strife and doesn't win a soul for heaven.Make sure you find some quite time to read it, for you to take up very valuable points.
