In my opinion, this Lugols Iodine formula is the best you can get, and I have tried a few over the counter, alcohol based, Iodine Tincture formula's over the years to treat infected wounds, ( Because I am such a clumsy %&#@£# ), anyway, they pale in comparison to this magic in a bottle.I have noticed much quicker healing times and almost instant annihilation of any germs. It burns away any yellow scabs, or pus. It reduces inflamation caused by infection from dirty sharp objects, or penetrating wounds very quickly. In such cases depending on the severity of the cut, punture or wound, or even infection, I myself, cut a small piece of tissue or kitchen towel, which I fold 3 or 4 times and then attach to a piece of thick, sticky elastoplast gauze. I then proceed to soak the tissue on the Gauze with iodine and apply to the affected area every day for about two to three days, seems to do the trick.Of course, the Lugols Iodine does stain, and the whole area it touches, does crust over or slightly scab over, not just the wound site, but the crust or scab excess dries up, and falls away after a week of fresh air getting to the site. The skin just looks a little shinier and smoother around the wound.The stain lasts much longer on smooth skin, for example, skin that does'nt see much sunlight like your sides, bellies etc, so, easy on the iodine for those areas or dont seal it up with elastoplast or gauze which seems to magnify the iodines effect by allowing no air near the wound until it is taken off. It does'nt bother me though, I am not taking walks down catwalks or anything.This Lugols Iodine even works great when you are making a woodstain. This will sound insane to some people but, punjaba teabags boiled to the point of being stewed in a smaller amount of water than normal, then combined with a few drops of Lugols Iodine, makes a great, light Golden reddish, Amberish, woodstain that brings out every grain in the wood perfectly, if you like that kind of thing, I do.I first heard of the Lugols Iodine over ten years ago, and its uses during certain wars, ie: the American Civil war, Napoleonic wars etc. In particular, it was used by a certain officer who was wounded 3 or 4 times during the American Civil War and would later become president. His wife applied it to bullet wounds and liberally every few hours to his face which was also struck by a musket ball leaving a gaping, infected wound, surrounded by deep, unsightly leasions or cuts. This stuff is that good, that after a wee bit of reapplication, TLC, and some rest and relaxation, his wounds healed leaving the very minimum of scar tissue.Anyway, This is magic in a bottle as far as I am concerned, I am thoroughly delighted with my Bottle of Lugols Iodine from the people who's skill and expertise goes into the making of this particular Formula, and take this chance to sincerely thank them for continuing to do so over the years.
