Painless (The Story of Samantha Smith Book 3)

Only few words are needed: read it and you'll love it.
THANKS for wonderful story. Devon - why didn't you start writing earlier?! I laughed - cannot help while reading those hilarious dialogues especially when Romeo and Kamiko are involved. I got so nervous that I chewed my lips bloody - Sam's "trip" to court house was the worst/best scene that made me burn part of dinner on top of chewing my lips. And I cried - angry and happy tears. Angry at all the nasty people that want to hurt and take advantage of others and happy because at least some of those youngsters resolved their problems and I know that they will be OK.I know that I write about this book - previous, too - like Sam, Christos and rest of them are real. They are. Devon HARTFORD - big name author, lol - makes them real. When I read those stories I'm in them, and all those characters are real people - thanks to Devon's writing.Devon - just hurry up and finish next one, and next, and next...I know that you have life besides writing books but you have to put that life on hold. You need to share your talent of storytelling with rest of us. You started it!!!Love the whole story of Samantha and Christ's and would recommend for the young and young at heart to read it. Do you know why it's good. You'll come back and read it again. That's how good it is. Just WONDERFUL entertainment and I have only one warning - put your life on hold while reading those 3 books - you WILL forget that you're cooking dinner and burn it. LOL

A touching ending
I have enjoyed reading this series but I have to say Samantha is a little too immature for my liking. She has a lot of growing up to do. I understand where this lack of confidence, insecurity and immaturity come from. Her parents are beyond controlling but there comes a point where you have to put your big girl pants on and take life by the horns. She did grow a lot in this book. Christos is a curious character to me. You get little snippets of his POV in this book. He is cocky, brave, sexy and totally smitten. When he goes seeking the automatic responses from his female fan club,I just shake my head. I can't figure out why he needs that confirmation. He does not come off insecure, ever. So he confused me a little. I wish he could see how selfless and loyal he is. Until he does and leans on Sam and his family he will suffer greatly. The cliff hanger at the end makes me grateful I waited to read it when the third book was published. Tiffany was he uber bitchy self. Romeo and the rest of the cast of characters were as always entertaining. The beginning of the book was a bit slow and Samantha s idle inner pradling was tedious at times but by the time the proverbial s*** hits the fan you are swept away in the plot. The next book of calling my name so I hope my review helps you decide to read this series. It's a gem.

So hard for me to rate!!!!
Alright, I already know people are going to hate my review! Here I go...This is a hard book to rate for me. For over half the book I was disappointed. At times, part of the story would really move me. Yet these times were so infrequent. There was a lot of filler that was meant to be entertaining but I found irritating. It wasn't until I was 70% into the book before I started enjoying the read. Then the last part of the book blew me away. We finally got substance to the story. Then the ending???? I was in tears.Random thoughts... Tiffany is a crazy B!tch but in a good way. Romeo was just annoying but loved when his wall dropped. Sam really acted her young 19 years of age for most of the book. What is Brandon' s deal???? The Manos men are the coolest ever!!! I so want to know the model for the book covers for this series... HOT!To help understand my rating, below are some of my thoughts while reading. Minor spoilers are below!!!!!!!!!!!At 10%…Alright I know that I'm only 10% into this book but I'm already disappointed. We are right back to where we spent most of the last book. Secrets when there doesn't have to be!!!My review at 53%I'm bored. Yes, Christos is an extremely hot guy but, the story is kind of predictable. You have a general idea for what is going to happen. And I want strong, confident Christos back!!!!!!!!Update at 57%OMG, really?? How long did we need to read about a red slash?? Is she really that stupid??Update at 66%…Well the book started to become really enjoyable until the corny and immaturity began... Adam and Eve, really?? A pointless section about a pirate???? WTHAt 69%…Off on another tangent...crotch notches and stupid Viking helmets...Yes another update so soon...at 71%…Have to give props when props are due.. loved what I just read. Wonderful memories from the Manos men.Gotta throw out another prop...82%…homerun with the kio and Dillon!!

The End or Beginning of Samantha Smith Trilogy?
Devon is a spectacular writer who enjoys keeping the characters real and hip. So I totally fell in love with these characters for their charisma, outrageous, quirky, and amusing personalities. Read Book 1: Reckless to be introduced to the gang: Romeo, Madison (Mads), Kamiko, Jake, Christos and Samantha (Sam). Reading through Sam's eyes, she goes from social awkward and shy to foot-in-the-mouth and courageous. Then follow-up with Book 2: Fearless. WARNING: Devon leaves cliffhangers. It's amazing to see all the different love matches in these three books. Even though our heroine Sam is a complete flake, she has the good intention and love to guide her back to Christos. A great awareness/comin of age story. We also meet Tiffany and there is a (definite yes) story to be told there. Lucas and bro, Logan. Brandon is an interesting story that Devon may need to create because his behavior strikes me as odd and not normal. (Hint Hint Devon). Ah the ending! I won't ruin it for those readers still exploring the journey of Sam and Christos but my happy dance is full throttle and raising the roof has gone nuclear. Very VERY happy with this ending. Kudos to Devon for tying up loose ends before creating more plots. I'm excited to read more about our supporting characters and tag some update cameos from our hero & heroine in the process.

Devon Hartford is a genius!
Devon Hartford, where have you been all my life?! If you have sex the way you write, your girlfriend/partner/spouse must be cross-eyed with glee!I am not ashamed to say that there were parts of this book where I was talking out loud to the characters "What the hell is wrong with you?", "Tell him!!!!", "Tell her!", "Walk away. Just walk away... pleeease!", "I cannot believe she/he just said that!" and any number of other conversations I had while gripping my phone/tablet tightly as I barrelled my way through all 3 books. At one point, the build up and tension were too much for me. I bookmarked the page, skipped ahead a chapter or two and then when I could breathe again, I came back to my bookmark and finished the tense bit. It was like walking on the edge of knife for way too long and I cracked. So sue me. I don't cope well with suspense!I was glued to this series for 3 days! I read it ever spare second I got - making dinner for the kids, hanging out washing, before going to bed, when I should have been planning paintings, instead of writing the first draft of the history book I'm supposed to finish by Monday! I just had to know what happened next! These books really had a special interest for me because I have just become a professional artist. I am now getting commissions and sales of my paintings and it's blowing my mind the way it blew Samantha's - making a living doing what I love. So for me, it was extra special hanging out with the Manos men and learning about their studios, their styles, their work, how they organised themselvesThank you Devon Hartford. I may have missed every deadline I needed to hit at the end of this week (or maybe I'll just skip sleep for 2 more nights and catch up), but I had a blast reading your books. Now of course, I WANT MORE!Keep writing!Stacey

PAINLESS (THE STORY OF SAMANTHA SMITH 3)
Brilliant trlogy all books were fantastic read and would highly recommend them. Lots of pages and nice to settle down with. Loved Christos to bits and Sam! very good storyline makes you laugh and certainly cry. Only one slight point is that the banter between Romeo (who is adorable) Kamilko and Sam at times became too long even though some of it was comical but just felt that Devon the author may have had a writers block as the banter went on too long in a lot of the pages BUT of course that is my opinion and only a very small blip. You will all love the read and am now looking forward to the new books coming out regarding all the other characters even Tiffany. Hopefully it won't be too long to wait.

Not the best one
This book was ok but not as good as the first two. There were long periods were nothing happened and I had to skim over pages which was disappointing. The tone of the book felt different to the first two which was disappointing and it was clear in this book that a male writer was trying to write from the pov of the female lead which didn't always work...how can Sam be portrayed as a lady one minute then talking graphically about poo in the next minute. Also, I didn't get why Romeo needed to be so crass all the time, it got boring and predictable after a while... and the part where Sam was losing her mind over the red paint was stupidly unrealistic. What loving girlfriend would be more focused on red paint than her boyfriends drinking. I'm a bit disappointed with this book.

Awesome..!
First of all Devon Hartford is a trulely awesome writer, talk about a way with words, I was blown away by his imagination, wit, endearment and knowledge, Infact absolutely everything it was packed so full of all that and more.I don't know about 5* if I could I would give 10* the whole trilogy has been brilliant and to think we have so much more to look forward to, after been given a bit of a teaser of what's to come. With so many characters starting with Victory there has to be at least another 3 books I'm sure, cannot wait, going by what we've read so far there won't be an once of dissapointment. Please don't keep us waiting to long I'm having withdrawal symptoms..!!
