These Ellipse P100 Half-Mask Respirators from GVS are designed to protect against dust particles, metal fumes, mists, oil and water vapors, and even some micro-organisms. They are suitable for everything from DIY use to commercial construction, including the demanding environments of metalworking and stonemasonry. Each mask includes two low-profile filters, which permit a wide field of view, and won't interfere with safety glasses, sanding shields and welding hoods. The compact shape of the filters also prevents them from getting bumped or snagged when you raise your arms for overhead work. The filters are easily interchangeable, and replacement filters are readily available (Rockler part #57904). Features: Approved by NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health); NIOSH approval number: TC-84A-5395 Close-pleated composite hydrophobic (water-resistant) material allows the HESPA filters to provide maximum particulate protection Lightweight thermoplastic elastomer face piece adapts to the contours of your face, and is hypoallergenic (latex-, silicone- and odor-free) Low profile filters provide a full range of vision without interfering with eye or ear protection Large central valve allows for low breathing resistance and less moisture build-up inside the mask Lightweight, non-slip strap is easily adjusted in 4 positions

Relief from Wildfires, Very Comfy!
I live in Oregon and we have had a terrible fire season this year as have the surrounding states. For the last few days our Air Quality Index has been 300+ with spikes up to 479. I have asthma and for me this is a very dangerous situation. This Elipse mask is such a relief. The paper ones don't work at all and the disposable N95 ones help some. I had been using a full size 3M organic vapor respirator which works very well but compared to this is large, cumbersome and can be uncomfortable for long periods of wear because of how tight the straps have to be. Today I got my Elipse mask and was thrilled to find large soft straps that you can easily pull down to your neck when temporarily removing it as opposed to taking off my glasses and pulling the plastic headpiece of the respirator forwards. The area of your face covered in just enough without putting pressure on my big nose or prominent chin. Because it is a only particulate respirator you can still smell some things in your environment like the moisture of a recent storm or a spilled fuel which is a good thing in my book. Worth every penny!

Filters Perfectly., CLEAN AIR
The RESPIRATOR is Comapct, by design to fit under the welding HOOD. Its tight and compact like a Prius. But, it works. It fits under the welding HOODS easily. I'm Welding currently Galvanized Studs for Exterior Panels at Chester Hospital in PA. Welding Galvanized heavy gauge studs to Painted steel beams. See Picture. With this mask, I only can smell the filters. The image attached of the STOCK P100 Filter is after 3 days of working., Which is around 16 hours of actual welding stop and go. I'm attaching the panels to the building, at the floor. So that means i have to position my head in between the studs at the floor, with my head over wear i'm welding. See Attached Picture. The Mask with the P100 Filters keep me breathing clean fresh air. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008PN8Y3Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1This is the Replacement Filter here ^ Fits Perfectly.Looking to take care of your health., this is the setup. I have the medium, which is what i wear in mask sizes, and it fits.Note:Wearing a respirator with cartridges is better then that $1,000 fresh air hood, because you're guaranteed CLEAN AIR.I'll gladly KEEP buying Filters. Take care of your health., that Cancer is REAL!!!Sadly, its about 20 Welders on the Job-site, different trades, and I'm the only one with a Respirator. I plan on seeing my retirement checks with a clean bill of health.

Kind of like insurance, something you hope you never need but if you do you'll be super happy you have!
I had to learn a lot about smoke, lung health, and particle masks this past week, as the NorCal fires were raging away about 30 miles from my house and it was raining ash on my porch.Even if you think you're some sort of super-lung BAMF, don't have chest pain, asthma, or lung issues, and aren't super noticing the smoke/dust, it's harming you. If air quality is bad in your area, you are doing yourself a serious disservice by not protecting yourself. On very bad days, poor air quality feels like a heaviness and difficulty breathing, but even on mild days of bad air it is exhausting and headache-inducing to breathe in tons of particulates. The cloth ones at the hardware store are fine in a pinch, but they're hot and hard to breathe in. If you're going to be wearing a particle mask all day/night because you're in a post-apocalyptic wasteland (or 30 miles away from a massive forest fire) something more serious is significantly more effective and comfortable. My GVS P100 mask arrived a few days ago and I'm SUPER happy with it. Even on hot but smokey days, the seal is good, not too sweaty, and it's easy to clean. I wish had had this when the smoke was REALLY bad last week, and now that I have it I plan to keep it in my car in case of emergencies in the future. Even wearing this on moderate smoke days has been helping me breathe again and I can feel my lungs starting to heal from all the smoke. A serious particle mask is kind of like insurance: you don't ever want to be in a situation where you need to use it, but if you are in that situation it's usually an emergency and you'll be super grateful that you thought ahead.

Have a beard? Give this one a go
Having tried some of 3M's offerings, I found myself rarely wearing it.I do a lot of woodworking and am more concerned than many when it comes to controlling what I'm inhaling. The medical literature is a bit murky, but there's enough validity that I would rather be safe than stuffy or worse. What the Elipse mask corrects is that it uses thick elastic bands that pulls it toward your face and a more pliable plastic for the mouthpiece. The other masks on the market largely sit on top of your head and use rigid plastic. That design greatly limits face shapes that it can conform to and still create an air tight seal around your face. Otherwise, dust leaks in and/or you have it so tight that it starts digging into your face, or most annoyingly you start fogging up your safety glasses. The Elipse is comfortable. And I can detect no signs of dust leaking in.I started by saying that if you have a beard, this is probably the mask for you. That's true, but, I could just have easily asked: "Have a face?" This mask is for you.

Not a great seal.
I use this while wood turning. I wear it under my 3M faceshield. I’m a small woman and this respirator fits me very well. It is comfortable even after wearing for several hours at a time. After 1 year of use I now know this mask does not block dust from penetrating inside the mask very well. The primary problem appears to be how the filters attach to the mask. Filters attach simply by slipping into a rubber groove. The fit isn’t very tight and it’s obvious by the dust that accumulates inside the mask that dust gets in. There s no way to snugg-up the fit so you’re stuck with this imperfect fit. Also, after ordering many filters I have concluded the filters are poorly made sometimes with small gaps on the edges that allow dust penetration. So, if you play to use this long term for wood turning, I give it a thumbs down, 👎. I’m moving to a 3M full face mask with the ability to attach to an external air source or to a Trend Airshield Pro.

Add years to your life by protecting your lungs.
I’ve used it for almost 2 months now 6 hours daily. I work in a metal fabrication shop with 0 sweeping or cleaning policies. I had a bad lung reaction and this I got this mask.Pros. It’s not huge, it’s air right, it allows me to work in an environment with dirty ambient air. The top strap goes above the ears and doesn’t irritate me. It’s easy to take off to talk to someone and remount. I cannot stress enough of how well this worked. Hell, I had to hold my breath in the washrooms it was so bad, and this helps with odour as well (temporarily). I would highly advise this for anyone working in a dirty invironment. I’m not phased by any looks I get. I changed my filters after 1.5 months (20$ is nothing compared to the dust that’s not in my lungs) and I wipe the inside of the mask with rubbing alcohol because it gets itchy after 1 or 2 days.Cons. It took some time to get used to. First the clapping of the air valves, and getting over the noise. Then the inside is relatively small so the circular part of the in air valves touches your upper lip depending on how you mount it on your face. Got over it. Then when you’re doing some labour intensive work, it does sweat up and drips sweat occasionally, got over that. And tbh I have to figure out a way to fix This but the straps really stretch, like they dangle a few inches on each side at this point, maybe I’ll replace them, who knows. I just tighten them more and more every time. Speaking is okay, like people at arms length can hear me, I can’t tell with it on, and I take it down to have some clear chats With people. It’s also a good excuse not to talk to people. Anyways And last con is that it’s not easy wear the mask with a beard without it irritating you, even a short unsaved chin starts to itch and you find yourself moving The mask back and forth to find a sweet spot over and over.Overall it’s a definite buy and a life (literally) saver for me. Again 20$ is nothing for the filters for the pain and years I’m saving later down the line. Just get used to it and you’ll be fine. Yeah I’ll shave my chin for a comfortable wear but who cares. Once I compared my used and new filters side by side; I’m shocked how my coworkers don’t want a mask of their own. Anyways to each their own.

Very good mask, nice and compact
Great mask. Wear it daily in the dirty jobsite in working on. Super compact so I can hang it around my neck when I don't need it.IF YOU BUY IT: Unless you're small or slight in stature, get the medium-large.I got the small-medium and it just barely fits my mouth and nose. I'm 5'10, slender face, where a size 7 1/4 hat. Hope this helps.

Ahhh, it's great to breath so well and without getting tangled!
Fits well!I do work in small enclosures, and not having massive filters bump around or catch on things is a huge plus. The other benefit is how freely you can breathe. It's so good that I honestly had to check the seal around my face to make sure I put the mask on properly and wasn't bypassing the filters. The improved air flow covers a lot more surface area, and that air movement also moves across more area of my face, which has helped relieve moisture build up, and allowed my face to essentially breathe with me.

A good 3M mask will probably cost you 15 $ with shipping from China
PROS :- lightweight- compact : better for your bottom side vision if vision is an important element for you)- funny look : the choice of colors make it look special- comfortable : super soft and flexible- made in the UK : the valves are super soft and efficientCONS :- the top straps are difficult to adjust : you will have to adjust them when the mask is in your hand - it is not possible to do so when the mask is already on your face or with great difficulty- no choice of colors- inconvenient if you have to wear eye protectors : the mask is designed to be more comfortable when worn high on your face - I would say it is a common issue with half respirators

Garbage (6 months of use READ ASAP)
I initially wrote a 5 star review on this product. After testing it for 6 months and ordering countless filters for it I'm throwing it in the trash. And here's why in the simplest form possible.1) The filters are severely over priced2) Dont last the measures when cleaning them3) Straps are bonded to the unit thus making it impossible to take of without taking off every other PPE you have4) Upper strap Monica Lewinskys the upper tip of your ears.5) The cushioned rubber on the top strap (thus preventing it from sliding down the back of your head) rips your hair out.6) The whole system is flat out designed wrong. You're better off waterboarding yourself while you work. Buy this trash with care. Here's the plus. Doesn't fog my PPE eye protection. Whoop Deeee forking do.

Just what I have been looking for.
I have a big respirator but it is very bulky to wear for long. This one is great for woodworking, cleaning the chimney, or any other dusty task. The size is quite trim so it doesn't block my vision like the bigger ones do. I can't give it 5 stars for comfort because anything stuck on my face is going to be less than ideal but it is as comfortable as possible and certainly much better than the big respirator. It fit around my glasses very well, too. The out-breath valve works well so it doesn't get too damp inside the mask. I'm much more likely to wear this mask rather than the heavy bulky style.

Not perfect
Compact design under the welding helmet, it should be improved at the borders touching the skin for someone who sweats much... or work next to high heat. The replacement filters are expensive.

Comfortable, good seal
I have a short beard and was concerned about the sealing of the mask to face. Does a nice job of that and is very comfortable on the nose area. Used while operating a lathe so it stays on for quite a while. Straps hold well and comfortably. Really happy with this.

Great item
I use it at the gun range and it is great .It also has a ton of uses around the house or job site , for debris removal ,renovation work ,etc.......One star off for the fact that even it is Small ,it doesn't really fit my wife's or daughter's face ...On the other hand the Large one fits me perfect (five stars for that one )

Great mask
I bought this to do woodworking in my 1 car garage. So far so good after using it just over half a dozen times.I have a bit if a smaller nose so it doesn't quite sit as tight there as other spots.I also wore this with a pair of safety glasses, the 3M Virtua Ccs Protective Eyewear and I only experienced fogging in the glasses twice and it was very very minor.Recommended!

Best cycling mask ever!
For six years I’ve been trying to find a proper cycling mask. Ironically, this woodworking mask is one of the least expensive but the very best for my cycling. No matter how deeply I breathe, there is no hindrance, and I can wear glasses without any interference. The only negative is that the elastic cinches flap in the wind. To take care of this, I added quick-release clasps from the sewing supplier.

Too small!
I am a jeweller and was looking forward to having a new dust mask to use while polishing. Unfortunately it is very small and becomes really uncomfortable if worn for more than 10 minutes. I got my 11 year old son to try it on and it fit him well. It really is more like a child's size. I can't even wear it comfortably under my chin, I have to put the chin part between my chin and my bottom lip to fit. I will be seeing if I can return it.

Not What You Expect
At first seemed like a very good design, but after daily use in my wood shop, the elastic straps broke rendering it useless. When deciding to replace it, I looked at what did the replacement filters cost vs the life expectancy of the dust mask, and over the year I was horrified to see how much I had spent the the overpriced filters. Am now looking for a different brand with a longer life expectancy and lower cost filters. I would not recommend this product until they address the issue of the cheap straps and lowered the price of the filters.

Fits great and is comfortable but...
Got this one recently after looking at reviews. The fit is great and the comfort is quite comfortable. However, it stinks. Makes me nauseous. The respirator smells like chemicals.Which is quite ironic since I bought it to filter chemicals...The box was opened when I received it, so I'm not certain if it's due to that.Possibly returning it when I get back from vacation.
