Taylor Technologies K-1005 DPD, 9-in-1 Pool Test Kit

This was my first venture into using this type of kit to maintain the proper water balance in my above ground pool. I have been using pool strips for many years and was a little reluctant to use this type of kit as it seemed more complicated and time consuming. I had an issue that made me doubt my strips so I purchased this to determine whether or not I had a problem. It turned out to be very easy to use, with very clear instructions, precise, and included a nice pool maintenance booklet as well. It was not all that time consuming and gave me peace of mind on my readings. I became very skilled with it very quickly. This kit gave me the basic things I needed to test the chlorine, pH and Alkalinity and helped determine the proper amount of chemicals to put in the pool. I would recommend it.

Works great for the hot tub. Clear instructions, easy to follow and gave me the control to stop having to rely on spa retailers to evaluate the water for me. Major time saver

Best tester on the market covers all the bases

Doing your own testing is NOT complicated. Strips are terribly inaccurate and can cause your pool chemicals to be off balance. Get your own Taylor kit and also have your local pool supply company run a test. Mine does it for free and it is even more accurate than a kit, which lets me calibrate what I get from my testing. This kit has more tests than I need, but I am thrilled to have it after a year of 'test strip guessing' causing an out of balance pool.

I only have 1 small complaint and it may be user error, the cya tube can easily get damaged if you do not put it back exactly how it came. It works great, all the readings seem to be correct, and there is a decent amount of testing liquids. The cya test liquid could use more but I understand why they can only give you so much. It is a great value compared to the number of test is does. It is very fast and easy to use/read.

I am a new pool owner in these chemicals saved me. They help you understand the chemistry of your pool if you're willing to learn and give you more accurate readings than those strips. I also bought the five way test kit which is the one I use the most but the nine way also lets you look at your cya which is why I bought this one. These tests give me more accurate readings than when I bring pool samples in to the pool store itself. Remember those people need to keep their equipment clean and calibrated but this testing kit won't let you down.

I would skip this testing kit, BECAUSE the kit does not offer details on how to correct or balance the water chemistry. You'll be able to read the testing measurements but there is no book or guide table to tell you how much chemicals are needed based on the number of gallas for your pool. Nothing!! it refers one to their website, but that link doesn't work. Unless I'm missing something, but this kit did not come with the adjustment table or instructions.

I have used Taylor pool chemical test kits for more than 15 years. It takes time to count the drops, mix and compare colors to a chart but you obtain accurate results. If you care about your pool's health it is the way to go. The strips are quick and easy which is why many professional pool techs use them. But they are not precise. I have used them in a hurry but but you get only a general idea of the actual numerical result.
