Equal parts boredom and frustration
I really liked this developers earlier games (Shift 1 & 2), so I was quite excited about this game as well. That went away as soon as I got it. You've got three different sections in career mode, Golden Era (the really old Ferraris), Silver Era (stuff from the '70s and '80s) and Modern era. I started on Golden Era, which was okay. The cars handled okay, the tracks looked okay, everything was just okay. Problem is it was pretty boring. I don't know if it's the physics or the force feedback or what, but I didn't feel as if I was actually driving a car - I felt like turning the steering wheel made the scenery rotate on the screen. Didn't feel connected to the track at all. I tried the Silver Era, and they put me in a 512 BB that handled as if half the air had been let out of the tires. It didn't even turn - it just slewed sideways and slid. Good grief, my '99 Chevy Cavalier handles 10 times better than this nonsense. The career mode is set up in such a way that you choose an era and then you have to win race 1 to unlock race 2, etc. So if you really hate a car, too bad. You've got to win 5 or 6 races in it before you can do anything else. Even in arcade mode, most of the tracks are locked and you can't use them until you've progressed to a certain point in career mode.I'm a big fan of racing games - I platinumed Shift 1 & 2, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, spent a huge amount of time with GT5, played a whole season of F1 2010, and several others. But this game didn't do anything for me. As another reviewer said, wait for a cheap used copy - there will be plenty of them.

A Less than Legen-(wait-for-it...)-dary Test Drive
It's been a long time since I played a Test Drive series game. I diverted strictly to more realistic games around the time of Gran Turismo 3. It looks like they've brought back some of the realism, and I was stoked to get to drive (fairly good-looking) digital recreations of every major Ferrari car in history. But the game structure and interface of Ferrari Racing Legends are lackluster at best.Career mode is disappointing and repetitive in a not-so-fun way. It is hard to describe how this game differs so greatly from the enjoyment of grinding a course over and over to shave off mere tenths-of-a-second in Gran Turismo because all racing games are repetitive. The repetition breeds the skill of game. But I don't feel that way with Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends.Perhaps it is the lack of clarity of the goal structure, or the spartan interface that looks like it belongs on a PSOne. Or is it the lack of expandability of the game with its limited rewards? Maybe the game is just too basic and easy. I can beat the hardest achievement levels in just a few tries, so there is little challenge to the experience racing gamer.Another big problem is that Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends falls into a no man's land of realism: The driving physics are rudimentary compared to Gran Turismo or Forza series games, but too realistic to have the mass appeal of an arcade racer like Need for Speed. If you love Ferrari like I do, you'll maybe find some fun hurtling the Prancing Horse around some legendary courses not found in other games. But most likely, you'll find that this is another disappointing manufacturer-specific racing game that misses the mark of its sponsoring marque.

a rare driving game!
This isn't the normal crap driving games that everyone seems to be putting out these days. This game is all about Ferrari's but also about driving and feel. GT5 and Forza go back and forth about how real the physics are and how great the graphics looks. But they both lack feel. This game has that missing feel! You trail brake into a corner, hit the apex and massage the throttle back on to full. that's how you drive a real car on a real track, that's how you drive the Ferrari's in this game!I'm not sure where people are coming from with the graphics, I think they're as good as anything else on xbox. (it's all some variant of a 720p signal, if you want good graphics go PC) There's some flickering in some of the track entourage but it's minor stuff. No music, good! As for the sound of the cars... never heard the sounds of those old Ferrari's so I don't know how accurate these are. Don't really care, once again this game is about driving and Ferrari's. And it does both of those really well.Don't misunderstand this game isn't perfect. First off it's a game, not a simulator. There are no simulators on consoles! My gripes are all the old cars seem to have 5 speed transmissions and I know most of them were 4 speeds. That's a minor complaint. The tire grip fades WAY too fast. It's almost impossible to complete a 10 lap race because by lap 9 the grip is just gone and you have to limp the car around the track so not to spin it. The AI has a tendency to run into you if your not up to speed. That can be frustrating. And finally the AI needs more variety between easy and hard settings. I can't tell any difference between the settings and the way the competition acts. I hope there's a patch on the way to fix some of these. This is like MS flight simulator: It's either your thing or it's not. If your into the more arcade like racing this definitely isn't for you. If you're into the iRacing and those type of PC things this might be the best thing on the 360 for you. It went into this with low expectations so I was pleasantly surprised.

Old School Racing Fun
This game is old school. You will not find custom upgrades, customization options, or low riders. You will find fun and a lot of Ferraris though. This game is straight old school. No open world. You choose a challenge from the menu and race. They don't make em like this anymore. I enjoy it, but others may count this as a weakness. The game does have several weakness. The first is the graphics. The cars look ok, but tracks lack overall detail. Much better in GT5 and Forza. Also sound is pretty lacking. The sound of the cars is pretty unrealistic and their is little to no music in the game. Car handling can also seem funky. On the plus side, this game has amazing car selection. I love the old Ferraris and the old versions of the tracks. You can race the tracks as they were in the 1950's and 60's. I would reccomend this game to any historical car and racing fan. A lot of fun if you enjoy old school racing games.

I was looking for the best Ferrari racing game out there
I was looking for the best Ferrari racing game out there, and I think I have found it! The bad reviews here are misleading, its IS a bit hard, but only because its more simulator than arcade racing. You need to brake and take proper racing lines, plus Ferraris are finicky to start with. You can race some good cars on a few tracks right out of the box, and TONS to unlock. Graphics are pretty good, sounds are ok. I would write more good stuff but Im gonna go fling the F40 around Monza!!BONUS - Official Ferrari licensed product, genuine numbered Ferrari seal on plastic wrap!

Too hard to persevere with.
Ridiculous learning curve. I thought the other reviews were probably a bit harsh but in fact they are spot-on. I have just bought a game that I will never complete and that really sucks. What I HAVE seen of the game is great. Graphics are fine and the handling is fine, but I have come to a brick wall. There is just no way to beat the time set for the obstacle course on Monza, so it's GAME-OVER.Very disappointed. I'll give you the same advice that I ignored, Don't buy this game.
