Leonardo Da Vinci: An Artabras Book Hardcover – January 1, 1978

This is a comprehensive look at Da Vinci's works and is set up in chapters (starting with one on the man himself) which include an informative dialog. The forward notes that this volume came about as a result of the great Leonardo Exposition in Milan before WWII where experts from around the world contributed to it. As a kid we had this book and I would look at it for hours. I don't know what my late father did with that particular book but was so very happy to have found another copy on Amazon at a decent price. As noted the book weighs about 10 pounds and is coffee table size. Note that the vast majority of these illustrations of his drawings, sculptures and paintings are in a kind of sepia color but there are some color plates too. But this does not distract at all from the book since the sepia tone actually give a lot of detail and because so much of his work was in the form of drawings and drafts. Anyone with an interest in art, history and engineering would find this book very interesting in my opinion.

I bought my first copy over twenty five years ago. This is the fifth copy I buy, as a gift to a dear friend. It is an incredible compilation of the accomplishments of the genius that Leonardo was.

This is a great book to have out to read and enjoy.
