If you have an interest in becoming conversant in the classic 50's to 60's jazz foundations there is perhaps no better collection to start your journey. The remastered recording are excellent with the warm sound of analog recordings during that period. Intimate settings of small ensemble groups have a clarity that sometimes lacking in larger production recordings. The care that was taken to be true to the sound of the performer in the remaster process is evident. First time jazz listeners or veteran aficionados will treasure this collection.

This box contains 20 well known jazz recordings. What makes it stand apart is fabulous sound quality.My only gripe is packaging - jewel boxes bundled together in a cardboard box, no collection booklet whatsoever.Buy it for yourself, or split the box as a luxurious Christmas gift to several jazz aficionados.One way or another, for $6 a pop you can't go wrong. Buy while it is available.There are three more disks from this collection that can be ordered separately, albeit at higher price.

Original Jazz Classics Remasters This is not yet another reissue of Original Jazz Classics (OJC).The box contains remastered OJC CDs issued until June 2011.Joe Tarantino (of Joe Tarantino Mastering, US of A) has done remarkable job. Sound quality is fabulous.Almost 30 years after introduction of CD format, this set sound as CD should sound in the beginning.If you are novice jazz collector, don't think twice - get this set while it is still available. If you have majority/all of these CDs issued on OJC already in your collection, perhaps you will be quite happy to hear it as the top notch material deserves.If you have this on vinyl, well, you decide. Perhaps you are fine. However, bonus material on approximately half of the disks might influence your decision.The set itself consists of CDs in regular jewel cases packaged together in a sturdy cardboard box. Except the text on the box, there is no accompanying booklet inside. It is pity that Concord Jazz did not follow Korean Jazz Train example and package this set in LP jacket replica with accompanying booklet.Since this box came out Concorde Jazz managed to issue only three more remastered OJC disks. I see it as a bad sign where it is heading - toward the demise of quality material on a tangible medium. Original Jazz Classics Remasters

Un ottimo acquisto per chi ama il jazz. Un set di dischi che hanno fatto la storia della musica. I cd suonano benissimo grazie alla eccellente rimasterizzazione operata da Joe Tarantino, un ingegnere del suono geniale. Insomma: musica bellissima con un audio di grandissima qualità.
