No more squeaky, sticking screen
I bought this to use in the tracks of a screen in an upstairs window. This window is on the side of the house and often push up the screen and lean out to shake out rugs, see who is at the back door, etc. The screen had started sticking and shrieking and getting on my nerves in general. I had read about using spray silicone, so I finally ordered some. 3M is a trusted brand. I sprayed from the top of the screen track and then pushed the screen up. Then I sprayed a little more from the middle of the track (where the screen had been) and let it roll down. Well let me tell you the screen glides in its track. I might have done a little overkill, because sometimes it slides back down while I'm leaning out! Thank goodness these modern screens are lightweight.I'm sure I'll figure out more uses for this versatile spray. Lesson learned was to use moderately first, apply more IF NECESSARY, so you don't end up with a screen dropping down on your back. : - )

versitale silicone lubricant
I had two house plant sprayers that quit working. A friend gave us a can of 3M Silicone Lubricant. Sprayed some on the plungers of the sprayers and now they work just fine -- after 10 years of sitting on the shelf. I just couldn't bring myself to throw those brass beauties away. Keys stick in lock. Spray with 3M Silicone Lubricant. Don't have to worry about graphite ruining the lock. Same with hinges. [Remember it is toxic so don't use in places that come in contact with food.;-)]

FALSE ADVERTISING!!!
Falsely advertised as "food grade" which leads a person to believe this will do no harm when used indoors. Label clearly states 95% VOC's. Lesson learned. the hard way. pfft.

Great for indoor use. Doesn't smell bad.
Purchased this before because silicone was reccomended by a manufacturer of some equipment I bought. Used it ever sense. While WD-40 is great for rusty/dirty parts this item could be an option when low odor is desired (i.e. indoors), delicate parts are used, or in circumstances where a solvent mixed in could damage components. As stated it's FDA approved for use around food processing equipment so it's useful on dishwasher and kitchen cabinet hinges for example.

go with 3M
I have used this product for years....primarily for the blade (knife) on a stack cutter and on my work table when working with certain materials...This can puts out a nice aerosol spray of fast drying silicone. The 3M products never disappoint.....I tried a cheaper product....If i had wanted a wet mess it would have been fine. That being said my only gripe would be the cost......try this product on your shower rod, garage door rails, scissors....

Bad Odor
Works well, but it's extremely stinky. Has an odor that fills the room for hours. Unless you need to use this around food service areas, I do not recommend it unless you need food grade. Instead, try the Permatex 80070 Silicone Spray (not food grade). Unlike many other silicone sprays, this one does NOT have a horrible smell that fills the room with stink. Note that the Permatex 80070 Silicone Spray foams on contact. The foam fades after several minutes and forms a protective lubricated surface. NOTE: Permatex 80070 Silicone Spray is NOT food grade! Dont let it sit around
Update: I went to use the product and found the can empty. It had completely evaporated. No product left. So, if your're not going to finish this within about 3 years, don't bother. Called 3m and they were disinterested.
