Calligraphy Set for Beginners, Dip Pen Set with 19 Nibs, Oblique Pen Holder, Wooden Pen Set

I've been doing calligraphy for the past 50+ years causing kids and adults alike to show some interest in learning the craft. I purchased two of these items, one for an adult and one for my 9 year old granddaughter and both LOVED the set! I doubt it will be long before the two of them will be dazzling others with their new skill set!

This was a fun calligraphy set to explore. This set came with two ornately shaped plastic nib holders (they remind me of table legs), a regular one, as well as an oblique (like a side-car for your nib), and more than a dozen nibs to play with the 18ml of black ink. The pen holders were nice and comfortable for my arthritic fingers. There's also a small metal brass pen holder stand to lay the two pens on when not using them. This was a perfect set to experience various nibs and decide if I want to pursue more precise calligraphy tools. Fair price and fair quality with plenty of variety among the nibs.

I wanted to try the oblique pen and this looked like it would give me a variety of nibs to try it out with. I loved the pens both of them well balanced and comfortable to use. The nibs are fun to play with as I use them for sketching the variety is awesome. The ink is great better than what I am currently using. I am not sure if it is waterproof as I do pen and ink mixed with watercolors. I love this set.

Really a beautiful set for the price. Great for beginners. I'm really happy with my purchase and it arrived a day early. :)

Bought this as a gift, great hit, just fine, price could be better but the person I gave it to says they love it.

Picked this up as a start in a calligraphy hobby. Pros: Decent ink. I have not been able to compare with other inks, but it’s a good start. The nibs are good, but basic items. I don’t have any regrets with this purchase. Good value for the most part. Nibs write well. I tried them all to see how they handled and to get a basic familiarity with each of them. They work well. Cons: the straight nib holder isn’t the highest quality. The inner prongs began to bend and required me doing some adjustments to continue to use it. However, instead of investing more money into expensive versions of the same on a hobby I’ve just begun to explore, seems like a good investment. I do not know how the more expensive ones are assembled, but am hoping they aren’t like this one. The offset nib holder doesn’t dip well in the ink bottle. But it was very well designed and will be nice once I get an ink well or something that I can use this more efficiently with. This is a great introductory set. I recommend it. But, get a calligraphy book (or books) to explore what is needed versus what is unnecessary. Some products out there are wasted money. I recommend reading the Calligrapher’s Bible, which discusses the materials needed to effectively enjoy this detailed and intricate hobby. Care instructions are enclosed which let you know that you must wash off the protective oil used when packing the nibs in order to get them to work correctly. Overall, a great beginner set. Pleased.

Lightweight and thin they are perfect for my little hands. The contour fits confidante. The ink however is not very good quality it is watery and bleeds even on good paper. The nibs are mostly for drawing and very few for calligraphy.
