The best sunscreen!
This is the best sunscreen ever! It allows for you to tan without getting burned and makes your color develop so nicely. We are a non-tox family so I really try to find the cleanest products for us especially for my kids. We went to the waterpark almost every day over the summer and only used Earthley’s Sun Shield and everyone came home darker and not burnt. LOVE IT!

Not horrible, but should be renamed "Natural Sun Oil"
I like the size of the bottle, and the list of natural, non-toxic ingredients. I am not impressed with the liquidy consistency(for some reason I expected something with a whipped consistency) and how difficult it is to get a precise amount of product dispensed without extra spilling out and making a mess of the lid. I am ok with the scent, although do wish there was more of a scent from the raspberry seed oil and mango butter. At first application I thought it felt gross, but I'm in my 40s and my skin just sucked the oils right in within minutes and seemed very happy afterwards. I haven't used this while actually in the sun yet as Ohio spring has just begun. I used it on my face under my tinted moisturizer, and also on my arms. I noticed my left arm, the one that faces the window as I'm driving, has taken on a light golden glow already. I plan on using this as a base this summer, and will carry a Zinc sunscreen with me and apply if going to spend dedicated time in the sun for increasing greater lengths of time. This will allow my skin time to build up its natural protection from melanin. So, I'm not mad about it, I just really think the Sun Shield name is misleading and I don't think the type of bottle/cap works well with the consistency. I might try to put this in an empty pump bottle, like from one of the hair oil products I have used up recently (glad I save the bottles!) I recommend to try it.

May be best on older skin
First I want to say that this clearly states that it is not a sunscreen, although the name may give that misleading indication (Sun Shield). Therefore if you know you are going to be in the sun for an extended period I would suggest using a sun screen or block. This product does have a place in sun protection though! As a woman in her early 60's and being out in the sun a lot, the skin on my arms is getting that "mature" look, i.e. dry and sometimes crepey looking. I put some of this on my arms, it does seem very oily at first but rubbing it in made my skin feel very soft and looking better. It absorbed much quicker than I expected when I first put it on and after a minute or so did not seem greasy at all. The company claims that the ingredients in this will help your skin at a deeper level than just the top layer that you can see, to actually nourish the cells against the penetrating rays of the sun. I can't verify that it does that but I do think it's worth using. I have often worried about using sun block and sun screen due to the chemicals used in them but I can feel good about using this as it has all natural vegan ingredients. A little goes a long ways so this 6 oz. tube should certainly last through the summer months. I don't think the price is bad for an all natural product that does make the skin feel healthier. I do wish it had a nice scent though and I'm always a little disappointed in unscented products that have natural ingredients as I would think some of those ingredients would smell quite nice.

Greasy mess with bogus marketing claims
The marketing for this product is confusing and deceptive. It states clearly that it is not a sunscreen, but then claims that it prevents sun damage. This is not true. There's a reason the FDA won't let them use the word, and yet they are using it anyway. I am philosophically opposed to this kind of double-talk.This is a skin protection lotion which could be useful after you've been out in the sun. It is nothing but natural oils and wax. Do you remember the '80s when we slathered ourselves in baby oil and then went in the sun? This is a more expensive version of that experience. The look and consistency of this product is like slightly thick olive oil. The calendula gives it a yellow color. There is no added scent, so it smells pretty much like olive oil. It is pure oil and therefore, very slippery and gets everywhere. Don't make the mistake of touching your phone after applying. This all-natural lotion has a place in a skin-care routine, but is better suited for use right after a shower. Let it soak in and don't get it on your clothing or electronics.Use legitimate, FDA-approved sunscreen, wear a hat, stay out of the sun. Future you will be happy with your choices.

Thank you Earthley for this Sun Shield
I’ve been waiting for Sun in NW Indiana so I could try this Earrhley Sun Shield and it’s finally here! I tend to prefer natural alternatives to mainstream products. In the last few years I’ve been questioning sunscreens effectiveness and benefits so this Sun Shield totally appeals to me. I’ve used it my first two days of the Sun season in the sun, poolside and I’m impressed. I didn’t burn either of the times I used this Sun Shield. I usually burn the first times my pasty midwestern skin gets exposed to the sun each season. Check out my photos to see the consistency of the product and the color. It’s not like anything I’ve used before.Things I love about this Earthley Sun Shield:• I can pronounce and am familiar with all of the the ingredients• It absorbs in my skin quickly• It just smells like olive oil, no perfumey extras so I gave it 5 scent stars• My skin isn’t burning but it’s getting a little color so I still feel like I’m getting a summer glow and probably some of that good vitamin D from the sun• No thick white cream streaks because it isn’t white
