Excellent additon to GMT's 18XX Railroad Game Series
Great addition to the 18XX series that GMT Games is creating. Much more complex than 1846, their first game in the series, but presents a very different and highly competitive situation. Can be played with 2 - 8, and also has solo rules.

My favorite 18xx game
This is by far the most complex 18xx game I have ever played. An average game takes us approximately 4 hours. Loads of fun and many recalculations...little down time while others are taking turns. I love this game.

Bad packaging from the shipper.
I know the game is good but whoever shipped this needs to learn to put padding in the box it comes shipped in. Wanted to play today but looks like I will have to wait a few days for the replacement.

18xx turned up to 11
18xx games might be the longest board games I play, but they are so much fun. If you want to get into 18xx games ...and there are plenty of them, remember to block out a 4-6+ hour window. I have 1830, 1835, 1846, and 1862. Used to have 1856 and 1870, but our group doesn't like those much.1862 is based off of East Anglia in England. What turns '62 up to 11 is there are 3 types of trains instead of 1(Express, Local and Freight). 20 companies in total to choose from and lots of small markers, tiles and cards. You may want to invest is some latch stowaway tackle boxes for all the pieces(Plano 2-3700's are working great for me). I bought this primarily because this is one of the only games of this genre that can be played solo. The pieces are high quality and the game is fantastic. This however ...is not a 18xx game to start with! Try 1830, 1846 or whenever 1889 comes back(working through Kickstarter and production). The more comprehensive rules for the solo game is on the "Boardgame Geeks" website under forums of the game page, but there is a shortened version of the solo rules in the box.If you are a fan of the 18xx games and have a tough times getting your friends to commit to this long of a game, the solo mode will definitely fulfill that gap. I highly recommend it!
