Whereof one cannot speak, one must pass over in silence.
Brillant, summarizes all of philosophy by contradicting himself. Read Hegel next.

Great free version of a great work.
Bare bones, basic and completely without frills, but an excellent way to get one of the twentieth century's most important works of philosophy for free. As for the work itself, even if one is not into philosophy, the Tractatus is a mind-expanding, deceptively challenging book. You can read through it I an afternoon but take a lifetime to understand. No excuses.

Heady stuff -
In a nutshell - Philosophy is pointless (in the literal sense). Please do try to solve the riddle of life (ie human existence) - because, in the end, nothing is provable. Say what you will - at the end of the day, no matter how literate, how erudite, how convincing, how eloquent, we are simply guessing - there is NO proof of God nor proof that God does not exist either. As for the Big Bang Theory, so beloved by Stephen Hawking, even he concedes we know not what preceded it. But try we must and try we shall - ad nauseam - and it will provide for entertainment & intellectual stimulus but we do not have the capacity to know. This is not exactly Wittgenstein... BUT... you can't make a car fly. You can make it better. You can make it faster, smoother, more comfortable, possibly endlessly so, but you cannot make it fly. Once you 'do' it is no longer a car. It is a hybrid. This is the extent of man's philosophical capacity. We are simply not built to actually know (the answer to the ultimate question). We can expand & intensify but we cannot 'know' ... most likely, ever.

Arguably the greatest philosopher of the 20th century
Arguably the greatest philosopher of the 20th century, Wittgenstein revolutionizes the very way we do philosophy in this slim volume. Time will tell, but this author may likely take his place in the pantheon of Descartes, Kant, Hegel and Heidegger.

Perfect
Everybody should read this book. High school students and college grads. This book shows the power of logic, the force of intuition, the perfect internal consistency of this work, the clarity of thought, the depth of meditation.

Rating the Product, Not the Original Book
As the title of my review implies, this is not quite the book it represents itself as.I really wish I had looked at these one-star reviews before I bought. I assumed they were reviewers lacking understanding and bashing the original text (at least one is). As most of the one-stars point out, the problem is with the edition and not necessarily Wittgenstein. One of the reviewers before me pointed out a few typos. Those in particular have actually been corrected in my copy, printed 30 October 2012. However, more errors abound.According to the product listing, this was published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform. There is no mention of publisher or translator in the product itself. It does not seem like one could reasonably cite this text in any article or academic paper. All I can tell you is this was the cheapest new edition on Amazon at the time of this review, with a black-and-white picture of The Thinker (statue by Rodin) on the cover. Be careful of which edition you choose to buy, and avoid this one!!!

Kindle Version has quite a few errors
Just wanted to warn you all that the free Kindle version of this text has quite a few scanning errors in it that were not caught by an editor. If this especially annoys you, you might want a paid version. As for the actual work in question...it's not my cup of tea.

Beautiful logic
I love this piece of work so much. It is both logic yet abstract and I use it as a reference to write essay to come up with great ideas. It is beautiful.

Interessante a dir poco, da non perdere, anche per i non filosofi. Pagine tra le più profonde mai scritte , Pagine anche :. "non scritte".

How can one read this book ?
The contents of this book are such that one can only read by opening it blindly and try to digest and understand. But to understand the meaning of any particular thought one should have read the whole first and quite honestly to my mind at leasr is not very digestible. So keep for rainy day and much courage. However some thoughs are a real challenge and real eye-opener. In short dual feelings, maybe due to my lack of training in philosophy.
