Great overall product and if it was backlit it would be a 5 star review. Programming is generally easy but some (IR) remotes are a little harder to program. I have a wireless HDMI switch (small remote) but I managed to get it programmed using the colored buttons. I put the little label on the base of the remote so my household could understand what every button did. It fits comfortable in my hand and is easy to use. This remote is legit and for the price, couldn't pass it up. I hope this review helps someone in making the decision to buy.

So the device works great with my Fire Stick. Was easy to get connected. Instructions could be made more clear, but figured everything out anyway. Remote feels ok, not any better or worse than other remotes I have used. Love having the keyboard on the bottom. That is the main reason I got it.I was able to IR Learn and program my TV's remote for the volume up and down, mute, etc. No issues. However, no matter what I do, the power button doesn't do anything. I have tried over and over the same process I did for the other IR buttons, and the remote blinks three times saying successful, but still the power button for my TV doesn't work on this remote. Kind of a bummer. This remote would have been perfect if that had worked. Not sure why all the other buttons programmed fine, but the power button doesn't work. But that means I have to keep the TV remote around for that single button, the power button. That defeats the point of having a replacement remote. I am debating on returning it.I can't speak on the battery life or durability since I just got it. In the next few days I have to decide if I want to return it since it can't do that one button I need. But I can use the keyboard which again, is the main reason I got it, but would be nice to need only 1 remote. Everything else is working great. So close, but not 100%.

I'm not sure where all the negative reviews for this device are coming from? I think a lot of these people need to recalibrate what you can reasonably expect from a $20 universal bluetooth remote. If you want the functionality of a Logitech Harmony then go she'll out the $350 for one, there is nothing for you here.My universal remote control has worked basically flawlessly out of the box. There are a few idiosyncrasies that take some getting used to but all in all and considering I bought it on sale for like $14 this thing has exceeded my expectations.Pros:Worked like a charm straight out of the box.The IR learning is functional but you have to align the 2 remotes just so before it will capture from the old device.Surprisingly long battery life.Only the buttons on the side facing up work, so you don't have to worry about hitting buttons when you set it down.*Cons:The ir blaster is weak and needs a good line of sight with the receiving device. (TV, Stereo, DVD, etc.)It uses an older bluetooth chip so instead of going to sleep it powers down so you have to hit a button to wake it before use. You get constant "device connected/disconnected" notices from the Fire TV every time this happens.*If you hold the remote at a 90° angle none of the buttons work.I haven't been able to program it to control the window AC in my room. Not sure if the format is too different but I can't get it to accept a command from the remote that came with the unit.That's what your in for with this remote. If you can live with these quirks save $300+ and buy one of these. If you a remote control which works flawlessly in every scenario Amazon will happily sell you a Harmony for $350+

The remote wouldn't setup correctly.

I got this for my father as he likes using youtube to watch music videos and educational content but hates searching using the firestick remote. This took a little bit of setup but had directions on how to pair it with a firestick. After that setting it up to be used for volume on the tv was like any other remote, simple. The keyboard works great for youtube/firestick and any task where you are searching/typing often. A bit thick, but its not really a downside as it feels nice when using it as a keyboard, which is the driving motivation for this item.

This remote has functions of both original firestick remote and tv remote. Back feature of this remote is plus.

This is the second replacement remote I've tried, and is definitely a keeper. It comes really close to offering a true "tv remote" experience. The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars is that the keypad on the back is too small to use unless you have eyes like an eagle and thumbs smaller than a pencil! Also, the version I received has no back light. Otherwise, it's great.

Came on time and looks the part but, in the instructions that are very vague to say the least it says to use the old firestick remote to select settings but that stopped working and obviously is the reason I have acquired this replacement. I can not seem to get anything to happen with the new item. Has anyone any ideas.

I bought this remote to replace the original on my Nvidia Shield. It works great apart from the voice commands that do not work at all. Kodi needed some manual key mappings, where as the original Shield remote did not.How ever after 2 months the batteries have died, they were decent new batteries. This isn't good.Also it goes to sleep far to quickly and you have to wait a few seconds for it to wake up before you can use it. A bit of a pain.

Me thinks that this remote sends different codes with its forward and rewind buttons than the original Fire TV remotes. It's more like it's sending previous and next commands rather than rewind and forward which causes undesirable behaviour in some apps. Also on the cons side, it nods off and disconnects after just a few seconds of idleness and needs to be woken regularly before you can start using it again. Plus, IR learning is only compatible with NEC romotes.That being said, build quality is reasonable and it might just come in handy for some other project so I'm not being too harsh with my rating.

Build quality ok for price. Two problems led me to return it. 1: remote goes into standby very fast like after a minute and when you go to use it again you have to wait for it to resync that's gets frustrating very fast.2: trying to program apps to use it is near impossible like in Kodi setting the back button wouldn't work full stop never had a remote that couldn't do such a basic function.

Similar to other remotes I already own and use but this one is Bluetooth, backlight works well and air mouse pointer is clear and precise. My only issue is with the batteries, they don't last long in this remote as compared to the other remotes.
