This thing is a must have for anyone that has a heavy load distributing hitch head. I was skeptical about this at first but needed to find a solution as I was having difficulty managing the hitch head without aggravating a nagging back injury. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it works. It allows me to use good body mechanics to install and move the head around without any issues. It’s very well made, compact, lightweight, securely clips on the ball and perfectly balances the hitch head. Just get it, you won’t regret it.

Ok, so this was a total impulse buy. I had it on my wishlist for a while as a curiosity. I was ordering some "add-on" items, and had just a few minutes left to get my order in to hit my delivery target, so I said what the heck, and added this to my cart to get above the minimum order amount for the add-ons. It just came, and I took it out. First impression was it was lighter and smaller profiled than I had imagined...I had figured in itself it was going to be some heavy-ish tool, but it's not. I had a minute, so I figured I would give it a try. My equal-i-zer hitch (which is a fairly meaty hitch) was stowed in my trailers storage compartment. I remember thinking when I ordered it "eh. I will still probably need to pull it out of the compartment before using this"...wrong. The profile is small enough I was easily able to slip it over the ball while in the compartment. I didn't even have to re-position the hitch first, just grabbed onto it where it lay. My other preconception was "ok, how much of a balancing act is it to carry it around with this?". I had visions of carrying it and it slipping off and bouncing off the pavement. Again, the design proved me to be worrying needlessly...the way it is designed, it slides onto the ball and cradles it with virtually no effort on your part to keep it in place. I lifted it one hand out of the storage compartment and literally exclaimed out loud to myself "oh my gawd...what didn't I have of these 20 years ago?!?!?!?". I felt like I could have carried the thing down the road one handed, no problem. This thing is amazing. To give you some background...I don't need this, I don't have back problems, I am strong enough to lift the hitch just fine. But this tool absolutely eliminates the awkward carrying that you typical have grappling with these things. I say I am strong enough to lift just fine without it normally, but to clarify, I am not a muscled athletic build either. This thing absolutely helps, positioning the center of gravity of the hitch optimally for a carry. And not only carrying it, but it was much easier to use this to get it out of my storage compartment without wrestling with it. Get this. Even if you think "I don't need it". Just get this. It is so worth the money. I am really excited to have added a useful tool like this to the mix!

Hitch heads can be heavy – and some can be very heavy. I happen to tow using the latter, and in fact, I use one of the heaviest on the market. Until now I’ve just been lifting it by hand without any sort of assistance as I thought that is just how it has to be done. I’ve seen this apparatus advertised a few times but thought it might not work or that I really didn’t need it. And then I sprained my back lifting my hitch head and decided enough is enough and ordered this the next day. I shouldn’t have waited so long to get this. This device is a game-changer, plain and simple. It makes the hitch head so much easier to lift and move that it’s hard to believe it can work so well. The device looks so deceptively simple and yet it manages to make my heavy hitch head seem much lighter. I’m sure it must be something about the balance point or the way it positions the hitch ball or whatever principles of physics it employs -- I really don’t care; I just know this thing works and works well!

A good tool for grabbing and moving your high head. Latches on easy and reduces your contact with the greasy bits.

This tool is the best thing ever. Before I would have to awkwardly carrier my hitch out of my camper’s storage compartment and strain to connect it to my truck. This thing makes it a lot easier with less effort. Great little tool.

If it's properly centered on the ball shaft, with my Reese hitch it balances perfectly and make transporting the hitch very easy. I didn't know what I was missing until I got it.

I took a chance and ordered one and just used it and it works like a charm. I usually have to wear gloves to avoid getting grease on my hands while holding the bottom of the hitch with one hand and hitch tongue with the other while being bent over. This makes picking up, carrying, installing and uninstalling very easy. I'm glad I bought it. Recommended with 5 stars.

I have a very heavy hitch and it was always a bit of a struggle to man handle it on and off the truck. This device (well constructed) makes the job much easier. Still a heavy lift, but much more controllable and no more grease on the hands. You won't regret buying this.

Bought for my husband for our heavy duty hitch. He thought it would be useless and of no value to assist. He was wrong and uses it every time to install and remove hitch. Game changer. He recommends it to others frequently. Have used it for a full year now and was a good buy.

Love it! Makes moving the heavy hitch in and out of the receiver so much easier and makes it into a one handed operation. Pricey for what it is but worth it!

Not a necessary device, but it does work and helps with gripping the hitch.
