MHT130 Bubble Wah-Wah Mute for Trumpet - Aluminum

This mute is free- blowing and notes stay in tune from screaming notes to pedal tones. Nice subtle crisp buzz. Highly recommend.

I started playing trumpet and cornet in 1947. The standard Harmon mute was pretty much the same then as it is now. The Harmon makes a nice buzz sound for jazz, but it drives the tone SHARP enough that using the tuning slide is necessary. That is a problem if your music requires MUTE IN and MUTE OUT several times. Then there is the problem of range limitation. Try playing with a Harmon below the lower D. Good luck with that. All that changed when I bought this MUTEC mute. Plunger in gives great 'Wah-Wah effects and plunger OUT still provides a good buzz sound for Jazz, but the tone isn't raised so much that retuning the instrument is necessary. You'll also quickly discover that you have access to the FULL range of the trumpet. GOODBYE, Harmon...HELLO, MUTEC. I teach trumpet and arrange music today. I no longer ask my students to buy a Harmon mute. I recommend MUTEC.
