And to dive in a bit further...GoodLight pays a premium every year to RSPO-certified (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) growers who believe in social responsibility and protecting the environment. Since 2013 we have donated 1% of our annual revenue to the Orangutan Land Trust to help protect Southeast Asian forests and wildlife endangered by irresponsible palm plantation expansion.

Forty percent of the world's palm oil is grown by small landowners in Southeast Asia who depend on their annual crop for their livelihood. GoodLight partners with Wild Asia (wildasia.org) to pay a premium to these smallholder farmers for their sustainable palm oil harvests. Although the palm wax that we use in our candles is not identity preserved, this is a very powerful way for a very small player such as ourselves in the global palm oil industry to have a very positive effect on incentivizing these farmers to grow palm sustainably.
